How to file Police Report

Can seller file police report if buyer returned item with damaged or missing parts?

Or it has to be over certain dollar amount to be able to file the report?

Is the report needs to be file in person or can be filed online? If file in person then it will be shipper's local police station instead of recipient's police station, right?

Thank you.

Hi.
That's a difficult question to answer .
I am in UK so these are my thoughts but as you are not UK it may not apply to you.

My views (UK info) on this are:

It is a civil matter and the police do not want to get involved as eb/pp have their own system to sort this out.
Unless you have done a big $ amount of scam, cops do not want to know.

Many years ago in UK someone took me to court (civil court, not criminal).
They said their £250 item did not arrive.
I was told to go to my local court (civil not criminal), which I did and I went with my receipts of postage etc. I have a nice folder with proof and paperwork of sales.
The buyer did not bother to turn up because they lived 400 miles away.
Case went in my favour and also my receipts helps.
Judge said the buyer did not bother to turn up and I was out of there in 2 minutes :)
BUT THAT IS A UK STORY

No one can properly answer this for you as each case in your situation is different, but I think it will not be a problem but try not to let it happen again.

Youre wasting your time.
The police will tell you to sue the guy in small claims court as it is not a criminal issue but rather a civil one.

The police will not bother pursing a case like this. You can present them with a rock solid case, with tracking and a signature, yet they will not do anything even for an expensive item.

If the item was returned but damaged, then 100% they will not do anything.

Not a chance. I received only a thank you note back one time and ebay wouldn't do anything about it. It was only a $80 item, but still sucks when you know you're getting scammed, it's just part of playing the game. I do have some ways to get back at them though now.

Unless it's an extremely expensive item, it's not worth your time or frustration, at least that's what I've come to learn over the years. The only part that makes the math complicated whether it's "worth" letting it slide is how frustrating it is when you're CLEARLY being taken advantage of. But if you can get over that part of it, then the rest is easy- remember, your time is worth something, so the less time you spend on this and thinking of this, the better off you will be in the long run, and you can be more productive in a moving-forward kind of way. At least that's how I've found things to be.
