Returned item not the one sent.
 

I know this is a well know common "ish" scam but I sold a phone, only a iPhone 5s for £120 sent it off and the buyer stated item was unwanted and opened a case and wanted to return it so I agreed and today it arrived and on opening the parcel it wasn't an iPhone 5s but a old nokia worth about a £5. I looked prior at the buyers account and he FB score was 69% positive so I had a feeling he was dodgy so I had my partner film me opening the parcel and took detailed pictures, recorded it all. Ebay asked me to send it all in and they will look into it.

Has anyone had this happen?, what was the outcome? does video evidence/pictures work?

Worth contacting paypal?

I am guessing not but I will try anyway.

It is a common scam and unfortunately the chances of fighting it are slim.
But you never know - maybe youll fall on some ebay costumer service reps with an intelligence above that of your common ape who will be willing to some initiative and common sense in the matter.

I sell phones for a living on FB and CL locally and I would never sell a phone on ebay with all there scams. I made that mistake once sold a phone that was clear even called the Co and made sure it was clear and then the pos buyer gets it and says it wasn't clear and wanted a full refund so ebay gave it to him and I lost my phone since I was using a stealth account. I had 50 invested in it but could had happen to a high $ phone as well.
