Return addresses

How do some of you guys balance return addresses for multiple stealth accounts? I would guess you'd be linked if you used the same return address?

Re: Return addresses

I arrange a courier to collect items that justify it

My 2 other methods are
1 - Offer a 50% refund and they keep the item
Or
2 - If the item is really cheap just let them keep it for free

Re: Return addresses

I send them a pre-stamped return envelope if it's worth returning.

Okay, I understand that - but alot of the accounts here for sale, especially the business accounts say that ebay require a return address

This is the best way to go about it, I feel. I agree with James here.

I usually offer up to 70% refund on the ITEM price, not shipping, and most of the time, the customer is more than happy with that offer.

If something is less than £20, I just refund fully and close the case. Its really not worth my time.

I get maybe one return every month or so, so I deal with it swiftly. No point to think about these things too much because when I do get a return, its most likely because I've made a human error with the listing myself and I just accept the fact that these things happen and move on.

I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the category that I'm in, so I'm sure there are some real cancer categories where you have more returns/exchanges that you need to deal with.

If its something expensive, I'll just get UPS to collect because around £12 for an express delivery and if the item is worth it, its worth using their service and get it over and done with quickly- Just paint a picture to the customer how sorry you are and make them think that you are doing them a solid.

"STEALTH" Solution of "Return Address Problem"

Buyer wants return. What should you do:

1. You can tell buyer that you used dropshipper to send him the item. So he cant use "home address" to return item but must send item/s directly back to your dropshipper.

2. (Tip) If you have UPS account - print return labels for every item you ship to buyers. So in case customer wants to return an item - he will just have to wrap up the package, glue return label and drop it off.

3. If buyer don't want to do that - you need to offer $10-20-30 discount to "cover his time". It's better that loosing full item cost.

4. The worst option - do not fight for the goods and losing its full value

===============================================

It is VERY important to link VALID AND REAL (not from your imagination)! addresses to ebay and Paypal accounts. They will auto-check this.

So it is better to set PO Box, Virtual address or address of a friend or family member (who is not registered on Ebay or PayPal)

===============================================

What about a Made-up Address?

Making up an address will cause issues with your account. If you use an address that does not exist, eBay will know.

Instead you’ll want an address that is REAL and optionally accessible.

Okay, so say I have 20+ stealth accounts - how would I go about registering a return address with each of these accounts?

PO boxes would be too pricey for each and every single one of these accounts? So which would be the most cost effective route to take

Re: Return addresses

Just send them a return label, or email them one they can print out on their own. :)

You would only need a po box or 2 if you read dallis' post...

I have a "stealth" mailbox
I use stamps.com and have UPS account as well
send/email the customer a pre-made shipping label to your stealth mail box
I use then exact same mailbox on very account - no problems so far
But the return address on eBay & paypal accounts ARE NOT listed to my "stealth" mailbox.
use "Shipping Dept" for your name

Sorry, I don't think I've been clear enough. Basically, I'm looking to purchase multiple stealth business accounts but most of the users that sell accounts state that you HAVE to register a return address to your ebay account, as it's VITAL. So return labels are good.. but I still need an accessible REAL return address. If I get a po box and I use the same po box address as my return address on each an every ebay account and one of my accounts happen to go down.. then the return address (po box) will be linked to all of these accounts and all my accounts will go down, BOOM?

Okay thanks. Just to clarify, you mean to use the exact same stealth mailbox for each account but not to list it as your return address on eBay & PayPal? And to use ''Shipping Dept'' as my return address on each account every time?

Re: Return addresses

I also do that the same as mondernman, I use stamps.com, and all the return addresses are the same on every account stamps account, I put my stealth 'address' on the EB account return address info, but I don't care about that because I never let them return to that address. :)

modernman 02-12-2017 12:44 AM

Re: Return addresses

it's simple

eBay account ------> stealth return address

stamps.com account ------> REAL address ( a postal box is best )

therefore you have 100 eBay stealth accounts but you only need ONE postal box

simmessi 02-12-2017 11:38 AM

Re: Return addresses

Okay, so if one of these accounts go down they won't all be linked by having the same return address resulting in all to go down?

dallis 02-12-2017 05:48 PM

Re: Return addresses

That's not a problem, because the only place that has YOUR address is stamps.com. :)

When shipping your item out to a buyer, do you have YOUR address on the "sender" section of the postage label?

What are the "returns setting" you have in your stealth ebay account? Do you auto approve or auto full refund (let them keep the item) any return scenarios?

I have stamps.com too and you can't just include return postage in with the item because stamps charges you upon creation of the label, not upon scanning like UPS. So I assume you create them as buyers ask for returns right?

dallis 02-14-2017 10:39 PM

Re: Return addresses

When I ship out I put MY return address on the package.

I don't auto-approve returns and I never refund automatically.

No, with stamps.com you can't include return postage, and I don't do that anyway, I want there to be a little bit of an obstacle to returning. Not a lot, but at least a little.
If you bought something at Walmart and wanted to return it, you'd have to drive to the store, true?

I create return labels when people contact me and I can't work out their issue. A lot of times I can upsell the product and make a lot more money and make them happy both. :)

Re: Return addresses

I am having problem with return packages being sent to wrong address.

It seem like eBay's automatic approved returns are using the stealth address used to make the eBay account.

I am not sure why as my return address is set to use a different UPS box address but the automatic return didn't seem to pick that.

Anyone knows any of this or a way around that?

dallis 06-03-2018 01:17 PM

Re: Return addresses

You have to change your EB settings to 'requires a RMA' (return merchant authorization), that way you can control the return process.
