Unique situation (Using friends ebay)
 

NEW USER - TEXT WALL INCOMING


Been browsing this hidden gem of a website for hours trying to figure what my next move should be. Thought about purchasing the stealth guide but I don't think my intentions are for what it's selling. I'll probably pick it up anyways though, since I think the information alone will help wonders just from a knowledge standpoint. But I'm going to post here first and hope that some kind and experienced people would have some insight.


For starters, I began selling goods on my friends eBay account (with his permission) due to my permanent ban from ebay a few years back. He does no selling at all and he sends the money from his paypal to mine, as gifts. This arrangement works mutually fine for us both but now it is tax season and things are a slight hassle. With tax preparers unfamiliar to the situation and not fully understanding how this should be filed. So if possible I want to move to a more easy going way to run my operation, through the same ebay if possible.


After reading up on all the ways that ebay tracks and links banned accounts, I was shocked to see how lucky I am for never compromising his account. Guess the timings of me getting new devices and a new IP lined up perfectly to avoid the connections. I mean, I still log into my banned ebay to buy and log into his ebay to sell, both on the same device and IP without them ever connecting each other.. Very ignorant of me to do but like I said, I've been extremely lucky.


So I'd like to get some opinions of how I should proceed going forward without having to funnel the money through him and his SSN anymore, since when filing taxes it could look sketchy and bring an unwanted trip from the IRS. Even though I will gladly pay all of my taxes on the money I've made, it would just make things easier on us both.


I was thinking of having my friend create a business paypal with all of his same info that's on his personal paypal, like phone numbers and address. Just without his name attached to it and having me link a fresh bank account and my EIN from an LLC that I will create. He can then send the money from there to my personal paypal. With the end goal being, to switch his personal paypal out for a business one with my EIN and business name in place of his real name so taxes do not get filed through him anymore and just me.


Sounds good in theory but I want to tread carefully because I can't lose this account. So I ask, is that possible to do since I'm not being linked at all no matter how many obviously wrong things I'm doing.? Is there a better way than this? Any precautions I should take? Any info really does help.


Again, I'm sorry for the wall of text. Can't sleep and I felt the details are needed to fully understand the situation. Plus I'm new and didn't wanna come off too much like a leech, so I left all the details so others can view this if they have a similar issue. But I'm gonna buy that guide tomorrow, I promise! Will check back later, thanks ahead of time.

I personally do not care if you buy the guide or not but your modus operandi seems way too messy and risky to me and this:

Your PayPal is at risk in doing so regularely. Accounts will be linked... PayPal limited and you left with one useless "can't lose" eBay account.

I would go stealth from the start without your friend support.

One option for right now would be to have your friend calculate his taxes without any of the additional income/revenue from PP/eBay sales. Take that number and record it but don't submit his taxes quite yet. Then do his taxes including all of the additional revenue that was netted from sales and add it back into his taxes. You can just pay him the difference (refund/amount owed taken into account obviously) for the taxes.

This is just for right now obviously, but the IRS doesn't care as long as they're being paid somewhere along the way for the income.

I agree that moving forward you should definitely move this business into an LLC/EIN situation which will be easier long term for tax purposes anyway.

I would agree with the poster above me however, learn stealth and do it the right way moving forward. Just because you haven't been linked yet doesn't mean it can't happen and most of the mistakes can be easily corrected (seperate IPs, PP gift payments between linked accounts, etc). Good luck!
