| | | HAHlala | 03-15-2017 09:29 AM | Is eBay still your full time job? I started a similar thread last year and it was inspiring to hear everyones stories so thought I would do it again to motivate myself and everyone else!
I was curious as to how everyone is doing on eBay/other selling platforms? Is selling online your full time job? and is eBay where you make most of your income online?
Was also wondering if peoples average yearly income from selling online has been going up or down? |

Mine is all vacation money, we take at least 3 trips a year, last year was new orleans, cruise , and san fransciso .
last year I made 38k.
Ebay is my " play money" - my " i dont mind spending 400 per kid for drivers ed, or 800 per kid for rugby , etc "
I HATE using " real money" lol..
I dont post as often as I should.. I TRY to post at least 20 items a day.. but then i go days between , and realize how much money I just lost lol |

Not a full time job but sort of a hobby at this point to bring in a little (very little, as slow and steady wins the race) extra cash. Would love to grow it into something to have set aside 'play/vacation money' like sluster2016 :)

question is, is it YOUR:boink::boink: full time job | Yes, selling online has been my full time job for 5 years now but the majority of my sales come from my website and I sell on eBay/etsy when I have extra time. |

Re: Is eBay still your full time job? Like sluster2016, I dabble in the online sales - mainly collectible stuff and sometimes hot-trend items these days. Fun money more so than anything |

A profit of 220k with only 2 employees as well. Do you sell only on eBay? and how long have you been selling online for? If you don't mind me asking! |
| aspkin | 03-16-2017 08:16 AM | Re: Is eBay still your full time job? I see eBay more as one of many places to list items.. I don't see it being the only marketplace to list on anymore.
Now you have Facebook local groups, letgo apps, next apps, etc.
While eBay is still the big dog in the room I feel like it's going to start getting harder for it to be the main source of sales as buyers shift to other platforms.
It'll be an interesting next few years. |

I need to put more into my own website, but I don't know enough about SEO and online marketing, so I keep putting it off. Looking forward to 6 figure boss coming back so I can give it a real go. :) nothing worse than looking at your total eb.ay fees at the end of the month and knowing that could be in your pocket instead. |

If you don't mind me asking! | We're on eBay exclusively, other than the occasional wholesale cash sale to friends of mine who I've introduced to e-commerce. 3 business accounts, then about 15 "stealth" accounts I sell on throughout the year. Just filed my taxes today. $903k in sales between the 3 businesses in 2016 - roughly $55k due between fed. and state. Tax bill sucks but I wouldn't trade my operation for the world, lol.
I started selling in 2013 on a very small scale and had my personal account suspended shortly thereafter because I wasn't yet aware of the "seller dashboard" (because of the stupid eBay App, which doesn't show it). Quit my job and incorporated my first business in 2014, and I've been selling full time since. To be perfectly honest I only have one "full-time" employee, with the 2nd stepping in to help part-time on really busy days. We mostly sell cheaper items which are easy to package, so we're able to push out 200 orders and still be done each day by about 3PM. |

Etsy are so strict with everything I feel its always only a matter of time until they shut you down. The new account I made a few days ago has had a couple orders within the last 24 hours but they are still processing which seems like its a bad sign. Etsy was amazing for me last year though and was a huge chunk of my income until it got shut down. But yeah my website is my main source of income. |

Hopefully you hit a million in sales this year - that will be amazing being able to say that. The tax rates in the UK are awful as well. Hoping my eBay business can grow to even half that. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 11:44 AM. | |
