Raising Selling Limit

I have been using a stealth Ebay account for a couple years now and have plenty of sales and ratings. However, I have been unable to exceed the limit of 18,500/$238,000. Even when I bump into the limit during the month and maintain a solid rating, the next month I do not get an automatic increase.

So, the only option it appears would be to call up. This does not sound like a good idea however since any personal questions they ask can lead to problems. It's an honest business, just dropshipping from Amazon. Have a lot of ambition but cannot grow the way things are.

In addition to this, I have another Ebay account for selling my own inventory. Making 50 sales a day and have around 500 listings. The account does not have an *apparent* limit. I am thinking about switching inventory from one account to the other. I just want to know if even though I cannot see my limit, if there actually is one. If I were to suddenly go from 500 to 5000 listings, would that cause any problems? Just want to know the rule of thumb for accounts without a visible limit. BTW, it's a "Top Rated" account.

If I were in your shoes, I would nurture your other ebay account and bring it up to the same level as your existing one.

Not only will you avoid risking losing this account via a phone call (not sure exactly how often it happens in the US) - you also have a backup account in place if ever your main account goes down.

Im surprised you haven't got numerous backup accounts already, considering how much ebay frown upon dropshippers.

Re: Raising Selling Limit

So maybe just slowly build it up? I suppose as long as I am expanding yet keeping the metrics in great shape, there should be nothing to worry about.

I actually have a third Ebay account that maybe has 200 ratings or so. It's been inactive for several months now. Not entirely sure of what I will do with it. It gets difficult to split up my business into many accounts because getting things situated with Paypal is not easy. I expect to gross thousands of dollars a day and not having a permanent Paypal account (non-stealth) would make things a big headache.

Right now, I am using a Paypal account for my business using an EIN and also one in the name of a partner (with an EIN). They have real information so I don't have to worry about the $20,000 tax issue.

Re: Raising Selling Limit

You should be able to open up at least 2 non stealth PayPal accounts per person, I know that is the case in the UK.

But your putting all eggs in one basket. If this is your sole income, and PayPal decide to limit you for no valid reason (which they can), then your doomed.

Best way is to keep building a solid foundation and naturally increase your limits as eBay usually does it automatically for those who reach their limits and maintain a good history.
