Would this technique work?
 

Im currently selling clothes on ebay, I have got into a new line of clothing that would best require a drop down list (variation listing)


Now going back to today, this new line of clothing, I have as a variation listing as I said above. However because there are no sales history for this listing yet I feel that views are little because ebay has put me back in the pages.

If I could create a new listing of very nice items (nothing to do with clothes)that I have, but slash the prices and get a bunch of sales, then after about 50-100 sales , could I then revise the listing and change the category, product and everything else to this new clothing line, and then those sales from before that I got the sales , would they still show up on sales history even though I revised the listing to a different product?

That can be done. I've seen it done before.

Im not sure how it works in relation to your best match placement in the listings though.

As soon as you make a significant change in the listing it counts as 'new' and your placement rating drops.

Your overall rating for sell-through percentage and service may prevent it from falling to the bottom of the pile, but it will certainly lose a lot of steam.

Yes this trick always works done many many times in past! Only problem you will get some extra claim when customer see this item which they not bought they will opine case or maybe contact you

But yeh go for it
