Do NOT USE FreedomPOP!

Hi, I would like to warn everyone of my experience with this company. I've seen a thread on here recommended FreedomPOP w/ Speedtalk, so I gave it a try. I ordered both of them with SpeedTalk giving no problems during shipping. 4 Days after I had paid FreedomPOP the $5.42 for the sim card to be mailed, I had seen a charge for $32.98. It was an unusual charge! I knew that if it reached a month that there would be a charge of $20 if the account was not switched to FREE, so it didn't make any sense at all to even charge this unusual amount. Well I emailed customer service and had gotten a response in a couple of days with the refund being issued in 2-3 days. I then emailed back saying can you at least tell me why you even charge this and what it was, they took another couple days to respond to it saying that there is an error and it was happening to others. Based on their business model, I know how they work. The monthly cycle starts at the time they ship the sim card, but yet it takes 2 weeks, hoping that people will assume and not read that disclaimer and forget to switch it to FREE plan on time. Another thing is that they had mentioned on their FAQ that it takes awhile to ship because they have a lot of orders and some excuses, to steer customers away from the truth. Now that I got the sim, I tried using it by d/ling their APP, and when I logged on it said my account was inactive to please check the plan and billing. I checked the plan and it is the 2gb unlimited talk and text, billing was the same card they used to charge me that $32.98. So I just said forget this, I am going to cancel and deactivate my membership so I don't have to deal with it nor get any more surprising charges. I first tried to create a support ticket to see what the problem was, but it says that I need to be a paid member and I was free that I cannot use the support tickets, and that I should use the forum. So, finally I just went ahead and click on the deactivate account, with another notification stating that I need to call the 800 number and ask them to cancel. Wow, this company is pretty smart in doing their best to make it very inconvenient to cancel so that the customers are stuck. I hope you guys don't have to go through this mess as I did.

Everybody knows this is a scam company. Anything with freedom is a scam.

I had a similar incident a few years back with a charge for a device that didn't even work.
