Dynamic vs Static IP..

Just running through the stealth guide 3.0 that I had years ago.

Changing the IP address now, MANNN what a blag, been on the phone to my ISP 2 times and finally found out they said I have a dynamic IP and it changes every 5 days or so and it recently changed, am I safe in thinking that I don't have to worry about my IP now?

I tried to change my IP which I believe was internal starting with 192. but could not change the what I belive was external starting with 82.

Can someone please help on this?

Re: Dynamic vs Static IP..

Hi, thanks for reply.

Few questions.

Don't VPNs alert ebay when being used?

Are there any free VPN services?

I plan to use my broadband for all ebay as it's easier and I'm paying for it.

I have read the stealth guide but this is as much as I know..

Any advice would be great, have all things in place i think to get going.

Please let me know on the above,

Re: Dynamic vs Static IP..

I was told by my ISP that my dynamic IP is changed every 5 days and it freshly changed today (though I was logged into old ebay this morning).

My understanding of VPN is that they cost money and are quite messy?

I don't see why I would need one if I have a dynamic IP?

Have you tried unplugging your router? From my experience with dynamic IP addressing, this would always give me a new IP address. I'm not an expert on this, I hope this helps.

For anybody within the USA needing an ISP provider, centurylink works great!

If your 'dynamic' i.p changes every 5 days, then that is really no advantage over a 'static' one. By that I mean you still would only be able to operate 1 account on it.

Look into what dynamic dongles are available for you. In the UK at least that is by far the best and most economical answer for many.
