Lack of delivery scans

Has anyone been noticing that USPS is missing more and more of their scans? Just this past month I have seen at 3 of my package miss their delivery scan which sometimes result in INR cases... even though I'm certain in all these cases the item was actually received and the buyer is just a scumbag trying to get free ****.

It's really annoying to have to deal with this. It happens for both first class and priority mail. Any suggestions to deal with this?

(I know priority mail carries insurance, so I can try to look into that)

So they were never scanned....not even at the destination?

No it was scanned up until the very end. Some delivery carriers are simply just not scanning the delivery

E.g. pickup/acceptance, arrival at processing center, in transit, arrival at destination PO. But not the "DELIVERED" scan :(

Re: Lack of delivery scans

I dont see this often, i ship about 50-60 items a day mostly USPS first class. It might not show up on ebay side for days but check the post office website. From my understanding this coming from a Postal Worker that is a super close friend, Once a postal worker scans a package "out for delivery"....that worker can not clock out until all packages on his route are scanned. This is why you will see sometime a package scan delivered and its not delivered till a day or 2 later....that person wants to clock out and the only way to do so is to close out his route.

Its second nature at this point for postal workers to scan packages....they can get lazy in the post office on fridays at a half hour to closing but its not very often i dont see a delivery scan.

It happened to me on few items lately.
So in this case if the buyer files item not received he would win?

Yep, 100% of the time

I've seen a huge increase in my number of packages dropped off at the post office that are not scanned right away and sometimes at all. Very frustrating as it is effectively keeping me from TRS but I personally have noticed an increase of this in the last 3 months or so.

The only way you are going to get them all scanned is if you go to the counter and ask them to scan them all.

ALL usps are like this, where they don't always scan everything upon DROP OFF.

I've seen them 'out for delivery' and never scanned 'delivered' many times.

And yes, the customer wins in this case, every time.

Be sure it isn't something you're doing, like putting clear tape over the scan bar, that will make it fade and become illegible.

Or printing in water based ink, which can be smudged, smeared, or wiped off in bad weather.

Sadly this is currently happening with me spreading out drop offs across a few different USPS locations in town. I have just been dropping off though so I guess it is just time to start waiting in line and making sure they're scanned right away.

Once again, just because it's scanned at the origination post office does not assure it will ever be scanned again.

THe good news is that most of the time, the items do get scanned at the last destination.

If you are worried about this for higher cost items, I suggest a signature confirmation.
But for lower cost items, I'd stick to the cheap shipping
