eBay Serious Notice (Guidance Needed)

Hi there,

As with both eBay and PayPal; expected the unexpected, and often the worst of the spectrum.

Today I received the following suspension from eBay:

MC113 Your eBay account has been suspended

Hello xxx.xxx,
Your eBay account was suspended because recent account activity has raised serious security concerns. We've taken this precaution to protect our members while we make sure that the activity doesn't cause harm -- however unintentionally -- to the eBay Community.

You won't be able to use eBay in any way. This includes using another existing account or registering a new account.

Any outstanding selling fees are due immediately, and any amounts that you haven't previously disputed will be charged to the billing method currently on file.

Regards,

eBay Customer Service

I have been using eBay fully since April 2016 and have never had this type of suspension on any account before - even with stealth information.

All identifier information on the account, including addresses, are stealth and not valid if checked against records.

From the more experienced users here;

The term 'serious' used in the email would sound like they're perusing something sinister, is this the case, or a harsh use of wording? Have you ever experienced any further action past this suspension and what are the common causes of it? I know that stealth, especially when done badly, can result in this, but I've never had it before on any other stealth using the same method.

Your guidance and past experience on this would be fantastic.

Thanks.

MC113 is just a general limitation. They use it for a massive range of things so its very hard to pin down exactly what caused it

Generally its a high risk item listed though

Re: eBay Serious Notice (Guidance Needed)

So the use of the word 'serious' is a generic term in their limitation emails and isn't unique to me? I was selling digital items from a popular brand but have done so since last year and have never had a hard suspension on other accounts, only listing removals and VeRo. This account has only sold a few so perhaps something has spooked them.

But I suppose actions vary and this is a new one for me.

I wouldn't read too much into it

Its just a very generic email

Yeah it's a real pain in the backside since they've completely banned access to my seller account which means sales records etc. are hidden from view.

With this limitation, is it common for them to contact your buyers with the 'Fraudulent Item' notification or is this associated with VeRo or other indirect actions related to listings?

I know, right? However I was lured into eBay with the whole digital item thing because it's a cash mine; there's no fuss with postage and both parties are normally settled once the exchange is complete - no smashed screens or liquid damage involved.

If I had to start selling physical, it wouldn't be worth my time. I do this as a sideline and if eBay and PayPal start to make it impossible unlike this time last year, I'll have to quit the game unfortunately.

I don't like to keep opening accounts under different names because it's against the law according to someone I asked, although their accuracy is questionable.

Ebay have tightened up with mc113 being more frequent recently.

Almost definitely due to the items you sell.

The funny part:

"Any outstanding selling fees are due immediately, and any amounts that you haven't previously disputed will be charged to the billing method currently on file."

If they think they're getting a penny after that stunt, they've got more chance of it raining gold. It's stealth, except from the Pre-Pay phone number, so the debt collection agency won't have much luck unfortunately for them.

Interesting, which law specifically does that break?

In the UK, the police are great at pulling legislation out of their pocket when it comes to almost anything, but I haven't taken the person's advice to heart.

As long as no one is stealing a real identity, I can't see the criminal intent apart from falsified info with a financial institution (PayPal) as they have a banking licence in Europe. But even so, unless you pull off the next World Robbery, I can't see them noticing or bothering with it.
