Unauthorized copies - but not MC019

Hello, I received a notification that my listing was removed as an "Unauthorized copy"... but it doesn't say anything about MC011, MC019, or any of that. What does this mean?

Is this basically a warning that I shouldn't list this item for a while? From what I've read so far, the takedown in and of itself isn't the end of the world, but repeated takedowns could cause some issues.

Note that the email notification I received said nothiing of MC violations, VERO, etc. So I imagine a competitor reported me, and since my account is relatively new, his word probably carried some weight.

It doesn't matter if the account is new or not, or if his word "carries" more weight.

right now, the best thing to do is to stop listing that item.

I assume you went into your ebay and actually check the message inbox and make sure it's a legit email sent to you?

I second SaiJin above, it's highly advisable you don't relist ANYTHING that was removed, even if eBay says it's OK to do so.

I've had this happen a few times, and found you really can't trust what eBay says is ok or not. The bottom line is eBay's bots didn't like it, and if you repeat, you'll likely be suspended outright for a repeat "violation".

Oh yes, it's definitely legit.

Just curious, how long do you guys advise I don't list that item? Or do you advise I don't list it ever again (indefinitely)

I wouldn't. But if you want to chance it, maybe wait 3 months and see what happens?

Any chance of you showing the email and blocking out the item and item # and name on account. The wording is usually different for a Ver0 take down and ebay taking it down. I would assume the wording on yours would be similar to one of those 2 even though is was not Ver0 or MCxxx.

Ahh I'll type some of it up instead of posting the screenshot. It goes something like this:

Your listing has been removed: Copyright Violation - Unauthorized Item

[...]

Due to copyright concerns, listings for unauthorized copies of items such as movies, music, software, photographs and books aren't allowed on eBay.

You may sell [...]if you are the copyright owner or are authorized by the owner to sell the product. This information must be clearly documented in your listing

[...]

Please be sure your current and future listings follow these guidelines, keeping in mind that additional violations could result in the suspension of your account

... additional violations could result in the suspension of your account...

Pretty much says it all. If you want to be suspended, relist it.
