You can have unlimited number of portable Firefox browsers - just make sure you close them down properly by terminating all their background processes prior to moving on to the next account.

Since people make a mistake with closing down background processes, thats where accounts get linked/suspended - and for this reason I strongly recommend you stick to separate user accounts just for peace of mind.

Make a bat file to ensure processes are killed, copy and paste code below in your bat file. Edit the code as per your needs.

taskkill /f /im iexplore.exe /im chrome.exe /im firefox.exe
exit

Been doing it for years. It is safe! What you want to do is put 1 folder on a USB stick and name each folder with the name on the account. Been doing it since 2014. It's 2017 now and none of my accounts ever got linked.

Update: Just remember DON'T HAVE THE FOLDERS ON THE COMPUTER MAKE SURE TO PUT ON USB STICK! Or else it shares cookies in some ways so USE A USB STICK! It won't share that way. I know some of you will disagree but it's just my exp of it. Either settings I did but it's just the way it is. When I use the USB stick I doesn't give me this problem. So USB stick all the way. Not to mention you can always unplug and use another computer in case you get a virus or crashes on you. AT least you won't lose everything.

What about amazon stealth? Can I have a several accounts in separate portable firefox folders on one windows user or USB stick?

Been doing it for years just like that! Make sure you put it on a USB Stick.
