Automatic Listing Limit Increase?

Any chance eBay would automatically increase my listing limits?

I've sold all 5 items that you start with and all these items will be delivered by wednesday.

Any chance or should I just build another stealth account while I wait for next month's increase?

High chance you'll get an automatic increase, though it's not guaranteed. I got increases on two accounts last week towards the end of the week, so the automatic listing increases may have already happened this month. Can't say for certain if everyone gets limit increases at the same time, but that was the case with my two accts last week.

Both, hope for an increase and start building another account. You can never have too many. :)

Re: Automatic Listing Limit Increase?

All of my accounts have experienced automatic limit increases over the course of the past few years. Sometimes quicker than others. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to when, but they usually double the limits (at least in the early stages.) I have taken several accounts that started off as measly 5/500 accounts and turned them into powersellers with HUGE limits. Like so much that it's not even necessary.

All that you need to do to get automatic increases is:

A) Use up all your current limits.
B) Do good business. Good feedback and seller ratings.
C) Ship your items out on time.
D) Don't have any mishaps like accidentally logging in from a bad IP (of course but just writing it anyway.)

Basically you just need to run your account the way it's supposed to be ran and you will eventually have your limits automatically raised. Some take longer than others. But in the end, they will all experience it.

1) 5/500 ---> 20/1000
2) 5/500 ---> 10/1000

Nothing special but these are both newish accounts with very low sales volume. I try to max out every account I'm selling on each month just to increase the possibility of them raising my limits.

I don't know if you ever will but once you get to an item limit of 1000 (or if you just buy an account with that as a starting limit), they become much, much more liberal with the limit increases. My busiest account (now about 3.5years old) had astronomical raises in the first 18 months. Went like this:
1000/$25000 (starting limit) ---> 1900/$25000 ---> 19000/$250,000 ---> 190,000/$2,500,000

I never even came close to 19,000 items sold in one month but they still added another zero. Nowadays I've just hidden the selling limit widget in my selling manager because I know I'll never come anywhere close to 190,000 items in one month (that's 6129 sales per day in a 31 day month, lol)

Marty's post in 100% factual and accurate. If you take care of your customers and take your e-commerce business seriously, eBay will eventually raise your limit to some astronomical number which you can only wish to someday reach.

Re: Automatic Listing Limit Increase?

I have no idea how eBay determines what limit increases will be, but it seems pointless.

My busiest account started off at 1000/$30,000, after about four months it jumped to 1500/$72,000, and just recently to 5000/177,000!

The account is around 6 years old with a FB of around 300.

This is nuts because my BIGGEST month in sales was never more than about $8,500. (usually average only $4k to 5k /mo)

Seems odd to me that eBay would think I need a $177k limit on this acct at all.

Re: Automatic Listing Limit Increase?

@nick - It's simple if you think about it. eBay is simply trying to stay profitable. The hosted e-commerce platform game is rapidly being taken over by Amazon (and other platforms like Etsy). Ebay is getting less and less traffic every month from what I can tell.

So when a seller proves they are trustworthy over time, eBay gives you huge selling limits. In my opinion it's more about them trying to encourage you to grow your business, and has nothing to do with your current sales volume. Like I said before I never passed or even came close to 19,000 sales in one month but they still bumped me to 190,000 because they like my customer service, lol.

I wouldn't view it as odd if I were in your position. eBay likes you!
