Buyers who take ages to return items
 

because they are still "using them"! What do you do in these situations? the ones who take 40 days before they say they want to return it.

Is it an abuse of the returns process? even if it is, ebay probably don't care right?

I'm not sure you can do anything about this, but I suppose you could try calling EB's crack team of problem solving genius fools.

FYI: If your using shipstation/stamps.com in this situation and you sent the buyer a return label your going to want to cancel the label within 28 days in order to get a refund on the postage. If you wait longer than that and the buyer never ships, stamps.com will deny your refund.

what kind of return policy do you have anyways? How are people able to return something after 40 days?

Are you joking? Do you trade on ebay at all? These aren't my rules, they are ebays rules! Even shops only allow returns under 28 days :doh:

I've been on ebay for 17 years. I've probably bought more on ebay, than you've ever sold.

no one is returning something on ebay after 40 days unless YOU set those rules. ebay money back guarantee is only 30 days. Maybe you should look into why people are returning your items instead of blaming others. Whatever it is that is going on, is ON YOU and YOU ALONE.

How's that for help?

They could be using PayPal to initiate the returns... 6 months to return an item what a f*cking joke. Aka 6 months to abuse an item and get a free ride then make seller pay for return shipping to finance his return fraud

Thankyou! since all ebay purchases require paypal and paypals return policy is 180 days, i hope we can all see now how buyers are able to return items after 40 days! :ranger:

Then you're doing a crappy job at selling. I've never, even ONCE had someone go to paypal to return something after the 30 days. NOT EVEN ONCE in the past 16 years. 3 people have asked me on ebay to return something after that period. One wanted to trade for a different product. The other wanted to return. and the third I denied.

Your comment was about ebay. This, has nothing to do with ebay, yet you claimed " THESE ARE EBAY'S RULES!!" So I'll go back to my original comment. These aren't ebays rules. You didn't even once mention anything about paypal, until I called you out on it.

Yeah, it is a freaken joke. I'll agree with that. I just never run into the problem, so I guess I don't care that much. I used to be very concerned, but so far, just never comes up.

But keep in mind, my response was directed to him saying these are ebays rules, not his. This has nothing to do with ebay. He could be selling on any platform, even his own website, and still deal with this problem. If he has a problem with paypal, well, that's an entirely different subject.

Also, paypal requires the BUYER to pay for return shipping. That's the one plus side to paypal returns versus ebay returns.

I have a few close to the 180 day mark, but not very many, over about 15 years.

Of the thousand and six things that keep me up worrying at night, this isn't even on the list.
