IP linking

So I have a handful of stealth accounts that were created on/use the same IP address. But, different user accounts, different photos, etc. They all started out selling similar items, but as the accounts have matured they now all sell different things.

By my understanding, eBay cannot link according to IP alone, correct? It can just be used as "strong supporting evidence"

The building whose wifi I'm using has tons of people in it, and I know for a fact that many other eBayers are logging on. If they were doing linking via IP, they'd probably have to shut down 100s of accounts.

Some questions:

1) is it too late to buy fresh IP for these accounts and use that from here on out? Will old IP cause issues? Or can I still keep the account and start "fresh" with new IP

2) your thoughts on whether these accounts will continue to stay up? assuming they play by the rules etc

Only time will tell is the answer to your questions. From now on, start doing it the right way.

EB can do whatever the heck they want, there is no 'strong supporting evidence' rule or concept.

Yes, they can link you. And they've been known to ban entire IP ranges, though I haven't heard that recently.

Will they do anything? Nobody can say for sure but the link is already made and nothing you do will change it, the link will always be there. Plus you said they sell different things 'now' and sold the same/similar things in the beginning, so the odds are high they're already linked.

If you get in trouble on one account, the rest will fall like dominoes.

Use different IP's, make a few backups on different IP's and keep them warm by using them occasionally.

ebay use many factors to bring the account, and the few factors the more easier they are to reinstate your account. Not just ip addresses come into play. they first start from the browser cookies. then from their they branch out. phone numbers, and paypals are the number top two factors when browser evidence isnt there. although they use selling behaviour at first glance, those are but flimsy.

Re: IP linking

If it's a once in a while cross linked IP, it should be ok. But if you kept doing it, the chance increases that they'll find out.

So from now on make sure you use different IPs. and just hope for the best.
