| | | Iron_chin | 07-01-2017 08:52 AM | Buyer from Cyprus trying to scam me, please help. I sold an expensive electrical item to someone in Cyprus about 6 months ago, delivered via FedEx and remember it being deliverd and signed for when checking. Now almost exactly 180 later they have opened case on PayPal for not received. I like an idiot cannot find the tracking as I might have gotten rid of it by accident. Probably because I left it somewhere seperatly as I don't normally sell abroad, but buyer seemed genuine and I checked the area it was an upmarket area where ppl from England,Ireland etc go to retire. Anyway I need to provide some tracking and was wondering if anyone can help me with some tracking to cyprus in the last 6 months? If really appreciate it and can also pay if needs be. |

| Iron_chin | 07-01-2017 11:10 AM | Re: Buyer from Cyprus trying to scam me, please help. I didn't upload it. I just checked it as I didn't hear back from the buyer |

| dallis | 07-01-2017 11:45 AM | Re: Buyer from Cyprus trying to scam me, please help. Did you call Fedex? What did they say? |
| garry9061 | 07-01-2017 11:55 AM | Re: Buyer from Cyprus trying to scam me, please help. Fedex will be able to help you out by tracking it from either your address or phone number. |
| SaiJin | 07-01-2017 12:10 PM | Re: Buyer from Cyprus trying to scam me, please help. Oh dear! I really hope they can back track that, because after 60 days usually trackings are archived.
Have you tried communicating with the buyer too? Is he responsive? |
| Iron_chin | 07-01-2017 01:08 PM | Re: Buyer from Cyprus trying to scam me, please help. I did it via a parcel shop not online. I know the buyer is scamming me so really is there any need to communicate? I went to the shop yesterday but they said they would not still gave it . They said they would try to find with FedEx help as I paid via card for the service but that is a very small chance. And I didn't hear from them. |
Re: Buyer from Cyprus trying to scam me, please help. Cyprus you say OP? |
| Iron_chin | 07-01-2017 01:21 PM | Re: Buyer from Cyprus trying to scam me, please help. Yes. Cyprus, the area was Ammochostos I believe. |
| dallis | 07-01-2017 05:22 PM | Re: Buyer from Cyprus trying to scam me, please help. Call Fedex directly.
Don't bother with the shop.
They keep records for years, because you can charge back on your credit card for years.
Just because you can't see the tracking on line after a certain amount of time, doesn't mean it's not there. Particularly if it was insured in any way.
If you can't prove it was delivered, how do you know you are being scammed?
Based on what you told us you can't demonstrate that.
Besides, it's well known you can charge back on PP for at least 180 days. Losing it is going to be a very expensive lesson ( which I think all of us have probably made at one point or another ). |
Re: Buyer from Cyprus trying to scam me, please help. I agree, obviously the buyer is scamming you hence why he timed the chargeback so well, it was his intention from the start.
As advised, try to obtain tracking via FedEx with the time/date they MAY have it on record. If they dont well, always upload the tracking ID for future reference. Did the buyer happen to leave you any feedback? |
| Iron_chin | 07-03-2017 03:20 AM | Re: Buyer from Cyprus trying to scam me, please help. Nope no feedback. I have been back to the shop and they have told me they cant help and they have also contacted FedEx who don't hold it on record anymore. Can anybody possibly help me with a tracking number please? |
| oompaloompa | 07-03-2017 04:18 AM | Re: Buyer from Cyprus trying to scam me, please help. OP everyone told you to contact fedex direct.
Tell them it is urgent, as customer claims not received, you are entitled to a copy of signature.
You have some proof of the sale of the postage as you bought it by card, I hope, if it is a credit card, you can always threathen a chargeback, this may prompt them to come up with the info you need.
The parcel shop is fobbing you off.
You said 'about' six months ago - is it over or under 6 months, as that could make a difference....
as for a 'good area' to send to - that is nonsense... |
| Iron_chin | 07-04-2017 02:17 PM | Re: Buyer from Cyprus trying to scam me, please help. So I have contacted FedEx and they have told me the sane thing, they don't hold records for that long, told them I paid via connect on my card they said it doesn't matter, the only way they can help is if I have the tracking number and it is stuck somewhere along the line. They basically told me without the tracking number I cant really do anything. Threatened a chargeback just to see what they say and the lady didn't really seem to bothered said I was more then welcome to phone there custoner service deoartmebt for a refund but I would need the tracking number for them to do anything. Ah, this is really frustrating. |

Have you tried communicating with the buyer too? Is he responsive? | Tracking is available online for more than a year through my account with fedex.
Not sure how it works when you buy the label.
How do you pay for your fedex labels? Check your payment methods.
I have my fedex set up to where I get an email after each thing is delivered.
Check your email from that time. Do you have a confirmation of delivery?
That buyer from Cyprus is well known in certain circles.
He does it all the time. Tried to do it to me twice but I had tracking.
I blocked him after that. |

He is in Cyprus. He receives things and reports that they did not arrive.
Files a claim with paypal, they used to refund immediately. Not sure what they
do now. I did report him to ebay for abuse. I'm not sure what happened after that.
I blocked him. He did it to me twice. First time I thought that maybe it was lost, etc
so I replaced the item. Next time, I figured it out. I was selling expensive collectible
paper items and so were the people I know who he also did this to. $175 item.
After he was denied the claim, he started emailing me directly using my paypal email
and he became very abusive. Paypal nor ebay will do anything about abusive buyers
if they do not contact you through the ebay message system. At least they did not
at that time. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:02 PM. | |
