Category Limit

I just recently got back into textbook trading and buying. I used to only buy from ebay and arbitrage the price. I now am selling and realized there is a limit. It only allowed me to list 5 textbooks per month. This is month two and it is still only allowing 5. I have a well established account, good feedback, no paypal limits, and powerseller level vitals. When will they lift the 5 limit or at least double it?

On other categories, such as clothing, it used to be 90 days.

5 units is a bit harsh, but they're probably protecting the bigger book sellers.

You're aware, of course, that the textbook industry is pushing into online-only books, and paper texts are becoming a thing of the past.

My current college student is down to only about 25% of the textbooks in paper, the rest are all online. He has to put the one time electronic book code into his class registration online to even be allowed to take the course, and it expires when the course ends.

I haven't had any problem adding as many as I want.

The work around is to list in another category, but there are drawbacks.

I wouldn't do it after you get your first policy warning though. They'll let you slide 2 or 3 times on established accounts, but don't push it.

Oh, I have noticed for sure. Just recently graduating, you can essentially get the book free with the testing application. A lot of local colleges that I used to eat alive with buying books from students have almost stopped updating books every two years.

I'm kind of iffy on risking at this moment. May wait the 90 and go from there. This account is far too healthy.

Are these regular text or college text?

As I said, I have a college student. Do you have an inventory, fall semester starts soon, can I send you an ISBN list of needed books in a few weeks? :)

( can't pass up an opportunity, textbooks are crazy high... )

You could also open multiple accounts and spread them out, 5X10 is 50 books.

Maybe you could include a list of ISBN's in the text of the ad along with titles, say something like "Other available titles include:" and search might pull them out, then you could set up listings just for books that people special request.

Or ceate a listing title that says "College Level 101 Economic Textbooks, see listing for available titles" and stuff in a few author names with the space left.

And there are sites where you can sell them as well.

This may be the kind of thing that a website would be good for selling on particularly if they're harder to find.

Personally I'd just risk the policy violation and list in other categories, given the timeframe we're in (with college starting just around the corner). As they say, "the first ones free". A minor policy violation like incorrect categories will not result in an account limitation if it's an otherwise strong account.

But wait for the 1st one to fall off (if you get it) before doing it again.
