Does ebay monitor Paypal transactions for selling outside ebay?
 

I know they monitor ebay messages but what about paypal transactions?

I use my PP's for both EB and other transactions.

I don't know how they would be able to tell the origins of a transaction... I'd guess this would be a nearly impossible task... but somebody else may know more.

If the ebay buyer paypal you money more than once, isn't that a red flag?

I do not know for sure. But I believe they monitor paypal transactions. I think they see your credit card and checking account info (at least partially). I think ebay also tells paypal when to limit accounts sometimes.

I know that ebay can see if you have a card and/or bank attached. I just dont know how much they see.

One guy on this forum mentioned a buyer wrote an ebay item number on a paypal transaction and this got him banned from ebay. I don't know if this is true or not.

I mean.... People use paypal for multiple other selling platforms. they use them for their websites. If ebay checked paypal for outside of ebay transactions, I'd have been suspended LOOOOOOONG ago.

That's what I was saying... how could they tell WHERE a transaction originated...

I'm sure they could tell where. If they wanted to. They just can't tell WHY

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but Paypal is used for many things, not just eBay. You can always accept payment outside of eBay

I'm pretty sure that they always cross reference info with each other.

So what are you trying to accomplish actually?

"View Paypal Transaction" link from ebay no longer works for me. Paypal gives an error. I'm using Opera web browser. Is it working for you?

Edit: it's working on Chrome.

eh, it's a glitch that happens now and then.
