MUCH, much cheaper in the long-run to have a Zebra compared to a Dymo. Zebra-compatible labels are super cheap (free on courier websites). Dymo labels are not cheap the last time I checked.

I'm rocking a Zebra LP2844, works perfect with my VMWare....took a while but I got it work.

I use a DYMO 4XL and buy generic labels in bulk on Amazon (12 rolls for $15).

I use ZP45 every day. Its Older model but it was the officially supplied by UPS for ages

Both are good models. I went with the Dymo 4XL for reliability and common usage. It has printed thousands of labels and never given a major problem. I have literally only cleaned it twice. Once being the other day when adhesive got on the roller. Nothing a little rubbing alcohol wont cure.

When I looked at the cost of labels, the zebra was the best. I buy 50 rolls at a time, I watch for a sale and stock up.

Only a tiny fraction of the money spent is in the printer, it's in the label cost. $.02+ X 1000-3000 per month adds up to at least $700+ a year, and it doesn't take one second of time longer to use the more cost effective labels.

I have Prime. If you do, narrow the results you can find them for $12-$30 depending on the amount you need. I buy most of mine from HouseLabels, works perfect.

Link to the specific item you're buying please? Not just the search results that I could've easily done myself lol

I've been buying from MFLABEL for about the same price as the top results of that link and they stick on way better than most other brands I've tried.

My test or "experiment" with these... I printed labels late saturday night on bubble mailers and waited until monday morn to drop them off. The two other cheaper brands didn't stick on quite as well and I had to rub over them again with my hand to have them fully stick. Imagine what they look like when the buyer receives them after days of being in USPS facilities.

That's the listing in my order history, but HouseLabels is sold out so a third party seller (LabelLines) is the one offering to fulfill them at 2x the cost and half the amount. The other seller is rebranding them here:

Still a good deal in terms of cost of actual Dymo labels, but damn they are taking advantage of HouseLabels being sold out of some quanities.

I've used HouseLabels for three years with zero issues with them sticking to cheap mailers I buy on Amazon. I've got returns and the label was fine. I don't really care much about my packaging presentation as long as it gets there unharmed. I sell t-shirts, not expensive items so I'm not going to spend more than needed to get them there.

But yeah, keep a look out for HouseLabels getting back in stock. They've saved me $300 + a year in cost.

Usually I get some multiple quantity of these listed below, right now 24 rolls of 250 for $70, ( gone way up in the past few months! ) That makes the YL46250 .011 per.

I can't fathom why you guys are paying $.02-$.03 for Dymo labels when UPS will give you all the Zebra labels you need totally free.

@dallis - I'm not sure if it's the same brand but I ran into some terrible labels about a year ago. Most on eBay are simply selling the free UPS labels but this one time I got something different and they were terrible. They would get stuck in my printer every time when the printer tried to print the first horizontal line on the shipping label. Even when I tried manually pulling each label through as they printed they would still jam. I ended up returning 9960 useless labels. Only time I've ever returned anything.

You know, I'd forgotten that, I'll check it out again, I don't really ship via UPS, most of my stuff is 4-8 ounces and USPS is the least expensive option for that.

That's why I stick with the ones I showed in the link. Bad labels are a nightmare...

Zebra label printers are amazing, you can buy them used and even call up your shipping companies and see if they have one they want to get rid of...

but honestly100$ is cheap for a zebra... I'd take it in a heartbeat

UPS gives them away if you use their shipping service.

But they have the UPS logo on it, and if I recall correctly, the USPS doesn't like it. May be mistaken, though.

USPS would pitch a fit over this. Let them catch you marking out priority or another trademarked USPS logo to ship cheaper.

I once made the horrible mistake of double packing two priority flat rate mailers together on an item that stuck out maybe 1 inch of one priority mailer. Needless to say, those babies got held on the stealth address and returned to the local post office manifestation. A lesson well learned. haha

I only ship USPS so free UPS labels don't work for me. My Dymo 4XL works fine on my Macs so I'm okay with a few cents I throw at labels. Maybe in the future when the 'ol girl stops working I'll pick up a Zebra but as is if it ain't broke I'm not going to fix it, ha.

I ship maybe 10 packages with UPS annually and they're still willing to ship me a roll of 1000 labels every month. A couple times I've even been able to order the box of 5000 fanfold 4x6 labels from them.

It's literally as easy as ordering Priority Mail supplies from USPS.

Sign up for a UPS account if you don't have one, find the "order supplies" section, find the "labels and stickers" section, and then find the roll of 4x6 labels and click "order". I'm telling you guys you don't have to be a huge UPS shipper to do this. I ship tens of thousands of USPS packages annually, but like I said maybe ten packages annually with UPS. I'm sure this loophole will eventually be closed but I've been stocking up while they're free.

Fedex will give you stuff, one time. After you order free supplies from them one of their account managers will call you and ask about what you're planning to do with the labels. Unless you use all of those labels for Fedex shipments you can only get free supplies from Fedex once.

Only the back of the label has the UPS logo. The front of the label is totally blank and I use them for all my USPS shipments.

90% of sellers on eBay with "5000x/6000x 4x6 fanfold labels" or "rolls of 1000x 4x6 labels" are selling the free labels UPS gives out. I can confirm this because I've had to purchase labels a few times when my free supply couldn't keep up. All except for that one time I got the sh*tty labels, they've been UPS labels.

I'm only saying that because of my personal experience with them. I got free supplies from them once but like I said earlier after I placed my order, one of their account managers called me to ask what I would be using the labels for. I told her I was getting into online selling and would probably be shipping a lot of Fedex packages. So they went ahead and shipped me the labels but now if I go to the website and try to order more I get a message saying "please contact an account specialist" or something like that.

So yeah for me at least Fedex was a one time thing but UPS sends me some every month.

@whoever said USPS would pitch a fit - That's nonsense. It's a blank label when you get it. USPS has absolutely no way of knowing where shippers get their shipping labels.

Ah. The way they were described earlier was that the labels were UPS branded. This sounds like a good deal if it's just on the back sticker sheet itself.

I just made a UPS account and will see how many packaging goodies I can use.

I think their doctab labels say "UPS" on the front but the standard 4x6 (rolls or fanfold) are blank. I know Fedex's doctab labels say "Fedex" on the front.

Funny, I registered and the roll of labels showed under order supplies but when I tried to add it to the cart it disappeared and now I can't get it back... :(

Make sure you're still logged in.

EDIT: and technically it won't go into a "cart". It will say "added to supplies order" then there's a link at the top that says something like "complete supplies order". Unless you ship a lot UPS will only let you order 1 roll of 1000 per month.

Do the UPS labels just work with Zebra, or do they work with Dymo 4XL as well? Looks like the HouseLabels site has the Dymo 4XL labels hella expensive. I'll stick to the 20pk offered by lancemichael2008 on AZ for now.. have been using them for about a year @ 1.5 cents/label.

Can't say for certain but I think the UPS labels are only compatible with more industrial-scale thermal printers like Zebra.

If your Dymo printer has a slot in the back where you can feed 4x6 fanfold labels in from the back then you should be able to use the UPS rolls of 1000. What I do since the roll is way too big for my printer is unroll it into a nice fanfold stack, put the stack behind my printer, and feed the labels in through the fanfold slot.

About printing a label and you are afraid of the items returned to a stealth address, you can print a sticker and use that to cover the stealth address with an address that you have access to.

Might make you feel good but unless a label is damaged, USPS reads the bar code, not the name and address on a label. The return address is going to be generated by bar code, not your sticker.

Not sure about UK or Japan but USPS for sure.
