Changing primary phone number to Google Voice?
 

So I have accounts that I bought over a month ago and I have logged on to them here and there but never listed anything yet.

Is it safe for me to change the primary phone number of these accounts to use Google Voice?

And if it is, do I also need to change Paypal phone numbers to match these Google Voice numbers?

Yes, it's safe. I do the same thing with any account I plan to add a tax ID to.

You don't have to add it to Paypal also, but you might as well. It will take a long time for the new phone number to show up in Paypal if you ever get the "security check" page. But it could be an account-saver for you someday if you don't plan on keeping the original phone active.

Adding GV to ebay is not an issue.

yup I got them changed to google voice now and all confirmed with eBay and Paypal

What phaz0rz is dead on.
If you intend to use the paypal account anytime soon I would not be changing the phone number. If youre thinking long term and have no immediate plans on using that paypal then change the phone number

Problem
I got my eBay primary changed to google voice.
However, when I list an item, it sends a verification code to my old phone number which I don't have.

I can't seem to be able to choose my google phone number

Should I call eBay???

On one other account that I had to confirm with google voice number + secret question, it emailed me the code but when I used it to confirm, it gives this red error message;

"sorry we are currently experiencing technical difficulty and are unable to process at this time."

This is so frustrating.

Both of my accounts are not able to list.

one of them is stuck on using the original phone on account to send text code to, and also asks a secret question but it doesn't say what the question is.

second account is having the red error message....

Edit: I got the second one working now after re-requesting the confirmation code and it didn't give me error using this new code.

I got curious and clicked on "contact eBay for help"...now everytime I try listing it tells me to call eBay and it has a code there for me to use within 24 hours or some such.

This is just bad. First, the name on the account is female...

which means I will have to get my wife to call them...and she's knows nothing about stealth account and how they work.

What questions should we prepare to answer?

I have the standard info like name, registered address, registered phone number + new added number, credit card info.

rough number of items sold

That's all I have with this account.

This is resolved.
I called and the person on the phone cleared the security. Hopefully I can use this account now.

To people who may run into this security issue in which eBay wants them to call, it is not impossible to call them and get it cleared. They asked for documents but I just denied having those and they didn't care in the end.

^^That's a fairly common issue to be honest. I really don't think it had anything to do with your Google Voice numbers, but it's plausible.

I've got that message at least 3 times now in my career after listing the first item on accounts purchased from here. Each time I got it I contacted the account seller and he called in for me. He/she was able to get it cleared up within minutes of calling each time. With as easy as it seems to be for him, and as easy as it was for you, I think I could handle it if I ever needed to make this call on an account I made myself.

Anyway, good job dude (or lady). Glad you got it cleared up.

I just got nervous anytime I have to talk to eBay. I got extremely nervous when they asked for my "wife's" driver license...good thing I read about how other stealthers here handle these questions before calling.

How many days does it usually take PayPal to update the number?
Can I not send money out of my PayPal until this new number has updated?

Also, if my accounts are new, how many days should I wait until requesting PayPal and eBay to change my number to a google voice num?
