Order Cancellation - Do you or Don't You?

I'm sure this has come up before, and will again, but I wanna see results as they may have changed over time.

So you list an item for a 7 day auction, the auction ends and the winning bidder hasn't paid. The next day you receive a message from the winning bidder that they changed their mind, or for whatever BS excuse no longer want the item and they have no intention of paying for it.

Do you:

A. Cancel the order, relist, and wait another 7 days and hope the next winning bidder pays.

B. Not cancel the order, and make sure to wait it out and issue a non-paying bidder strike.

Me personally, I am to the point where my time and my auctions are valueable, therefore pay or get a strike.

What do you guys do?

Re: Order Cancellation - Do you or Don't You?

For that listing where the buyer does not pay for the item, I send them a couple reminders. If they respond and don't want the item, I don't argue, I go ahead and cancel selecting "Customer asked to cancel" as the reason. I then relist.

If the buyer does not respond within 4 or 5 days, I open a UPI case and relist.

if you have multiples of the same item for sale, you can always list the others while waiting for payment, otherwise you have to wait out the case to close to get your fees back, etc.

This is yet another reason to have a backup account(s) to use in the meantime so that deadbeat buyers like this don't slow down your sales and keep the money flowing in.

I have my account set up to automatically file Unpaid Item Dispute and close within 4 days if unpaid, this does leave me with an annoying 8-day "hiatus" however unlike cancellations the buyer can no longer leave feedback, also I do not believe in letting non-paying bidders off without consequence.

EB no longer issues NPB 'strikes'.

Instead they say something along the lines of 'this information will be recorded'.

After 40 or 50 strikes they had to take action. Now they don't/won't.
