It's about time...

Manufacturers Using eBay's VeRO to Target Discounters?

Bose is a prime example of this. I bought a bunch of Bose headsets cheap when Circuit City was going out of business, and every listing they claimed copyright infringement because they didnt like the price I was selling at.

I finally started posting the receipt in the picture of my auctions...they still vero'd it.

Hopefully something will come of this.

This is a decent start though

This is how VeRo became arrogant, taking down auction even with receipts in the photos - I know, happened to me twice! I could not believe it! But VeRo could get away with anything because Ebay would let them. Now they terminate listings for whatever reason, even they don't know the reason (so maybe that's why they can't tell and give you the reason listing was removed), just because you offer the same at the better price.

I really liked one of the posters proposals below:

"VERO is incredibly flawed. The process needs to be changed as follows:

1) Rights Owner fills out a form with a captcha so it can't be automated, detailing WHAT right is being violated.
2) Rights Owner is required to PROVE how the item in question violates their rights.
3) The listing is not instakilled, but rather frozen pending a timely response from the seller.
4) The seller then has the option to fill out an online form to file a counterclaim instead of a convoluted fax process hoping it is received. The seller then indemnifies Ebay from all damages, accepting liability.
5) If the seller files the counterclaim with ebay within 24 hours, the listing is unfrozen and the complaintant is provided with the seller's information to pursue legal action directly. If the seller does not respond within 24 hours, the listing is deactivated but not purged out of existence so there is nothing to refer back to and the seller gets a strike or starts an education/disciplinary program accordingly.

This would balance the problems and stop VERO participants from exploiting the system & yet still give them an opportunity to address violations to their rights in the proper forum--court." End quote.

Ebay should have had a system in place long time ago but they didn't-too greedy. Now it's biting them back. I sometimes hope to God they Ebay spies do read our forum and see what people think about them.

That's another reason I like Bonanzle. No ⊗⊗⊗⊗ there in general. They are smart enough not to get into same mistakes Ebay is doing.
Bonanzle is everything Ebay was at the beginning and everything Ebay is not any more. Sellers are fleeing daily in thousands from Ebay to Bonanzle.:cheer:

Thanks for the kind words about my post on that page, but I misspelled complainant so I'm a little embarrassed.

Very interesting. Let's hope something comes of this.

You are welcome! Didn't know it was you :yar:, but if you could think of the solution, why Ebay can't? Where there is a will, there is a way......:pout:

Lyda, you're assuming:

  • they're ABLE to think,
  • they care about us,
  • they're rational,
  • etc...
I HATE EBAY :ahhhhhh: !!!

NO ID 05-28-2009 04:59 PM

^^^lol:pout:

GreenBean 05-28-2009 05:04 PM

Like they care enough to do that:faint: Good work:thumb:

Jonas 05-28-2009 05:20 PM

Lyda, good ideas but the CAPTCHA needs to be a quiz CAPTCHA because normal CAPTCHAs are read by bots better than humans.

24 hours is kinda strict. eBay gives people 7-8 days to respond to disputes. A seller simply gone or busy isn't the same as someone who permaignores a warning.

'permaignores'? :nerd: jonas-speak for??????????

Jonas 05-28-2009 05:43 PM

permaignore = permanently + ignore

GreenBean 05-28-2009 05:44 PM

I knew that! Good word;)

Jonas 05-28-2009 05:50 PM

See

Urban Dictionary: Perma

Then see the left side with all the words with perma in front.

GreenBean 05-28-2009 05:52 PM

Um, Jonas. I did that. Having a joke with ya;)

Lyda 05-28-2009 05:59 PM

I think Ebay will have to tame VeRo one way or the other...They are already losing sellers big time.....

Burst 05-28-2009 06:07 PM

Beat them at their own game :) Its fun and makes them upset.

oompaloompa 05-29-2009 06:42 AM

vero have many corrupt members, ran into a couple myself, they protect themselves from ebay competition for the a genuine resale market seller, but they wont admit to it as its anti-competitve and illegal.
plus they they sell on ebay themselves

how are sales at bonanzle? i know some sellers are getting away selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗ stuff on there.

Lyda 06-04-2009 07:16 AM

I haven't sold anything yet, but I am patient. My items are higher in price, so this may be part of the reason why. However, three items from my booth were selected for so called "hand picked list" by other members to appear on the front Bonanzle page. I don't sell ⊗⊗⊗⊗ and if I see any I will report.
