How big can stealth accounts get in revenue?

How big can stealth accounts get in revenue? I know I should have many accounts to split up the risks, but what is the biggest dollar volume stealth account that you guys have seen? I sell rebuilt laptops and am hoping to eventially (3 years down the road) take in 150k a month. Am I dreaming or is that possible? If I have many different accounts wont they ask for ID's on the ebay side and Paypal side eventually ? whats the most I should take in per account to keep on the down low? Thanks

I would venture to say that it would not be possible to take in 150k in 1 month on a stealth account. Even if it were you would be out of your mind to have that kind of dough in gaypals hands and no way of verifying who you are. Heres a little math....If you are doin 150/mo that is 5k a day. On Fri,Sat,Sun, you recieve 15k...withdraw on Monday 3-5 days to reach the account in which another 15-25k is in there...then bam limitation...transfers reversed money froze...25-40k on hold. I always start slow and do 500-1000 the first month of selling (always allow them to age a month or so before you sell anything....just buy) and incrementally move up. Once you have a good amount of feedback the risk goes down for pp. I will never move more than 2-3k per month on an account. So if you plan on doing 150/mo you had best get busy creating accounts if you want to use paypal. I would suggest going the merchant account route. I personally use paypal and do about 30-40K month on 25 different accounts.....Yes it is a headache!!! I am just now getting my merch account setup and am having to learn all of that. Either way though you do not want to have just 1 account if you are stealth. Look at it like the stock market. You have to diversify and spread your money out and not put "all your eggs in 1 basket". You can do everything by the book and still get that random suspension. I have had an account get suspended with 120 fb 100% positive that I was not even actively selling on. Remember Ebay and PP are pretty much run by computers and morons. Who knows what flags what, and everyone is different based on the type items being sold. Hope I could help....You will learn alot from trial and error. I have been so frustrated that i almost quit and got a "real" job :) but if you hang in there you will figure out what best fits your product. Good luck!

Also keep in mind that PayPal also tracks the transactions you process. Therefore; you may not even make it that high in $, if you are selling lower priced items.

PayPal limits at 200 transactions or $20,000 per calender year. Having multiple PP accounts can help prevent this, but you have to keep good records. basically stop using the accounts before you reach these numbers.

don't do it...get a merchant account instead.

If you are taking in that much money or even plan on it, definitely get a merchant account. It will be worth it in the end.

First of all, what merchant are you supposed to get. Most of the people hate paying by merchant accounts. If you use moneybookers or nay other service people do not like to pay by that.

TapTapper 06-08-2009 04:47 PM

By merchant account I believe they mean a real, true business ID and a legit credit card processor, like those listed in the stealth book.

But PP has reached an agreement with the irs to start reporting SS numbers of accounts that transfer over $20K, and $150K would certainly hit that trigger. Your stealth SS would land you in some big trouble.

PayPal Required to Report Payments to IRS

PayPal told merchants it will be required to report to the IRS the total payment volume received by PayPal customers in the U.S. who receive more than $20,000 in payment volume in a single year and receive more than 200 payments in a single year.

thanks for the input. Im intending on getting a merchant account but I was told most people prefer pp. And on the pp side, Im trying to determine the maximum ammount I should take in without raising any eyebrows per account. Sevnsins. Is that a fact that pp will automatically limit you at 200 transactions or $20,000 per calender year? If that is so then the maximum I can take in any given week on average is $384. 20,000 /52

what do you need to to provide them once the 20k limit is reached? A ssn#?

Even Brod1976 said he takes in up to 40k on 25 accounts. That averages to 1.6k per month per account.

What is the REAL most you can take in on a stealth account on a monthly basis / on average without the highly probable limitation to follow? What should I shoot for as a maximum per account per month?

GreenBean 06-08-2009 06:43 PM

:faint: Stealthy, Stealthy. Stop tying yourself up with how much is the 'real' amount. Each and every account gets treated differently by paypal.
Noone here can say the amount is X amount of dollars. All that can be said is use your account in such a way that it works. :peace:
