| | | | | walkingupwards | 12-10-2017 04:33 PM | Possible linkage through returns? For private reasons I will use example addresses in this thread. Let's also suppose my name is Mike Reynolds
When I sold on my account, I used to accept returns from customers to a different address than the one I am registered with. e.g:
Registering address:
Mike Reynolds
221B Baker Street
London, England
Address to which returns were sent (return labels were mostly bought through Ebay):
Mike Reynolds
Temeraire Street, SE 16
London, England
Now someone else who lives in the 2nd address (My brother) wants to create an account with Ebay and his registering address will be like this:
George Reynolds
Temeraire Street, SE 16
London, England
My Ebay account was never suspended, but got hit once with a Vero takedown around 3 months ago.
Will the 2 accounts be linked (supposing George followed all the instructions provided in the stealth book)?
The returns were sent the 2nd address, but to Mike and not George.
What do you think? Do you think the fact that we both share the same last name will be a red flag? |
| dallis | 12-10-2017 05:38 PM | Re: Possible linkage through returns? I think they probably will be linked. There's not just the info, there's the IP, which probably hasn't changed as well.
This is part of the reason we encourage people not to use family and friends' info.
Now he wants to open and account, and he's already been screwed over. |

The same IP will for sure not be used and all instructions in the Stealth book will be followed before creating the account.
The only piece of information that was used is his address (Street name and house number).
As I said above, I have never been suspended from Ebay. I only got hit with a Vero takedown and that was 3 months ago. |
| dallis | 12-10-2017 07:31 PM | Re: Possible linkage through returns? You wanted an opinion. You got it. Now do whatever the heck you were going to do before you asked.
And yeah, we've all heard about your innocence over and over and over again endlessly. It comes up in pretty much every conversation with you at some point.
Linking isn't just about suspensions, or VERO takedowns. |

Thank you for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it. Before I do anything I want to get as much input from the members of this forum as possible.
By emphasizing that my account didn't get suspended and I only got hit with Vero, I wanted to give the member reading my post a full picture of what happend so that she/he could be informed about all the details before commenting.
I have a question about suspension, hope you could help me answer it. Suppose I live in:
Building 101
Downing Street 16
Cleveland, Ohio
In this building live 500 people. If I get suspended from Ebay, will anyone from my building get linked to me just because they used the same address when registering? They could be living in a different floor, different apartment...etc |

You mean if you were George you wouldn't create an account with Ebay with this address because returns have already been sent to it:
Temeraire Street, SE 16
London, England
Or you wouldn't send returns to the above address if you were Mike?
So in theory, just because Mike sent returns to that address, anyone who's living there will be linked to Mike once they sign up with that address? It could be that more than 500 people live at that building though! |
| dachilla | 12-11-2017 09:00 AM | Re: Possible linkage through returns? 1. I'd do stealth accounts instead of a relative.
2. I wouldn't mix up addresses anywher
3. I'd get a Postnummer for a "Packstation" for the returns. You can change the address of the Packstation for each account and just pick it up at diff locations which are still nearby and easy to reach. |
| SaiJin | 12-11-2017 10:38 AM | Re: Possible linkage through returns? OP, if you already have the stealth guide as you mentioned, you can use the code in this forum. It'll actually show up in your profile that you have it and you'll get a free 6mo VIP access.
But honestly, reading all your threads, you don't seem to have actually read the stealth guide? |

I didn't mention that I have the stealth guide. When I said "provided that all instructions in the stealth book will be followed", I meant that I won't create the account before reading the stealth guide.
I will get the stealth book as soon as I can though. |
| dallis | 12-12-2017 09:08 PM | Re: Possible linkage through returns? Wow, you're burning up a lot of forum time and member advice hours asking things that are covered in the guide.
Every other thread lately is from you.
Why don't you get the guide and read it, and THEN ask questions. |

I got the guide 2 days ago and it mentions that using a relative name is actually recommended in case they don't/will not use Ebay in the future.
The question I am asking is not covered in the guide though! |
| dachilla | 12-13-2017 08:35 AM | Re: Possible linkage through returns? Stealth book says EVERYTHING must be new. This goes for the return address too.
Maybe a variation of your former return address works. Think, be crative, try out and if it doesn't work, start over.
Still not a good idea to use a relative. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 08:58 PM. | |
