Curious question about browsing

When you leave a page up after logging off of a user account, then return. Does it show the website your ip address if the VPN is not connected? I have always thought that the only time ip is actually sent is through a new enter and refresh of any old web page that remained up after log out. Correct me If I am wrong...

As far as I know its only when you fetch data that the IP is revealed

If the page is unactive and you are not requesting any data then the IP should not be revealed

If that is incorrect then I stand to be corrected but that is my understanding

Keep in mind that some pages - especially with ads and flash, etc - do bkgd updating...

on my websites I can see ip of each visitors, logged in or not even if the page is not active, so I suppose ebay can see it too
