Ebay seller gives me a different return address than is on file... is that OK?

I'm returning something (I was the buyer in this case) to a seller who sold something NAD (he knew it, he was just seeing what he could get away with) and gave me an address other than the address that pops up when you open a return, saying he doesn't live there anymore.

He wrote this through the Ebay messages, and from what I Google the info makes sense and seems legit- my question is if it's possible that he can technically get out of a return if it shows as delivered to an address other than what is provided...? Even if it's signed for?

if you used the ebay return screen the SELLER will be charged a return fee so your postage is paid for.

The seller also has an option to edit his return address before accepting your return.

If you use the other option you will have to pay the return and supply the tracking manually into the return case ( if option given)

Thanks! So if I don't mind paying the shipping, it's pretty safe to use his alternatively provided shipping address...?

As long as the return tracking information is uploaded to the eBay return request, the seller will be obligated to send you a refund within 1 day of your return tracking number showing delivery. DO NOT return without uploading the tracking to the case.

Really since this is seller faulted you shouldn't be paying for anything.

This is how I handle most of my returns.
