At what dollar amount do payments get hit with a 21 day hold?

I just sold an item for 99 cents on a new account and the payment went straight into my paypal account.

I was surprised since I was expecting a 21 day hold on a new account.

At what dollar amount do items get 21 day holds?

It's not about a dollar amount, it can be about the age of the account and your activity.
So just ship fast and get positive feedback to get it released sooner

There is no set amount

Sometimes you will get luck and not have any 21 day holds

Other times you wont and you will get hit with them

It also can depend on source of buyer's payment (pp funds vs. cc vs. bank) - which is beyond your control. Just one factor to consider as well

This is especially true. PayPal would certainly consider the source of funds, amount, and a variety of other factors (both known & unknown) in determining any amount(s) to be on hold, if any.

I usually don't see the hold for the first several payments, particularly if they're small, then once they have you sucked in they slap that hold on and start to squeeze until you bleed.

^^^ Yeah I just got hit with 21 day holds, and with my new account they no longer front you the money to print the shipping labels.

They've done that to me as well, get it in the mail pronto with tracking, and they release the funds a couple of days after the package arrives.

Just part of the game. We all go through it.

What's the deal with not giving you shipping labels during the 21 day hold anymore, they no longer do that for all accounts?

In a prudent business sense, why should they front you your business expenses? They don't know if you're credit worthy.

If it charges back, they may lose the cost of the shipping if they released it first.
