War with Silly Customers!

I have sold a Brand New Laptop to a customer on eBay. I even provided a small discount as to my commitment to provide exceptional customer service (I even ship next business day, even if its a Saturday). Sold on the January 7. On Jan 19th he opened a return case indicating that I sent the wrong unit. He uploaded pictures of a different but very similar model claiming that is what I sent.

I have pictures but not as detailed as it should have been(Not a clear serial # or Model #).
The only thing is I sell the exact same Model but of different Size on other Currently Active Listings. I have messaged him and await his attempt to defraud me.
I called eBay, they said I'd have to wait 3 business days and attempt to resolve it with the buyer. However there are no dealings with Fraudsters, so I will see if he messes up in his communication or inability to provide accurate photos.
Thoughts? Advise?

I had a similar situation. You need to call EB support 3-5 times and make sure they put all your claims and evidence on file for this case. Otherwise, it's hopeless.

BTW, when I use to sell my own used electronics I was getting scams like this ALL the time, it was awful. One of my favorites was when the buyer keep the item for 3 weeks, and then send a damaged unit or a totally different item back. Even if you manage to win the case, you would still loose because of all the time, energy, and effort you would spend. It's just bad for business, overall.

I wish you the best of luck, but be prepared to lose.

You cannot prove that you sent what you said you did, pictures or not, because anyone can take a picture and stick something else in the box instead.

Even if you had video that isn't really 'proof' to EB.

Why don't you wait a few days, and see if it self resolves.

Use their phone number and call them in person, maybe. Perhaps they ordered more than one and it's an 'honest' mistake of some kind. (doubtful, but you can hope ).

This is a very common scam, sadly, and very difficult to win.

Never sell anything on EB if you aren't willing to lose your product and your money both.
