Ebay suggesting brands.

Has anyone with power seller or bigger accounts noticed the message of suggesting name brands in categories? This surely has to be a Vero trap, or are these brands good to go?

Re: Ebay suggesting brands.

It's kinda ironic, but yea, I have also seen eBay actively promoting DROP SHIPPING and sourcing from "selected drop shippers".

From eBay's own site:

If you're a seller interested in using a product sourcing service, here's how to get started:

Look in the eBay Solutions Directory for a list of sourcing companies. Be sure and read their terms and services, and decide what company you'd like to work with.

More Info here (WARNING - eBay Link!)
https://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/product_sourcing.html

In fact, EB encourages it, esp. for Power Sellers One eBay rep even told me they want more powersellers to participate in their sourcing (dropshipping) program.

Would I do this personally? Not a chance. This comes with lots of problems of it's own; I'm not about to open a can of worms.

There's no rule against drop shipping, it's just a method of selling that leads to trouble for most ( not all, most ) sellers.

And of course they want you to use their drop-shipping baby, and I doubt you get any special consideration when that baby screws over your account.

You can sell brands if you're a licensed reseller and the agreement with your supplier permits.

Or if you have a handbag in the closet you never use and want to resell it you're probably not going to have a problem.

Where people run into trouble is when they purchase 100 name brand handbags at the regional Outlet Mall on sale and try to open an unlicensed name brand store.

Oh yes, I get them quite often.

Rule still applies to stealth and we have to be careful.
Even if you were to follow their guidelines, there's still a chance you'll get flagged.

Me <--- paranoid & don't trust eBay 120%

I figured this was a gimmick to attract a few sellers and ban a lot. I had no intention of biting, but you never know. I just find it ironic of their blatant encouragement for name brands then ban.
