Registering A New Account On Ebay As A Personal Vs Business??
 

I do all my ebay accounts as PERSONAL(I think that's what it's called)

What does it mean when they ask you at registration "WANT TO REGISTER AS A BUSINESS??" I always assume that it is something bad that would cause a red flag so I never do it.

Anyone have experience with this?

It's pretty straightforward. If you're a business and have a huge inventory (and expect to go PowerSeller any time soon) you might choose business. I believe you do get a bit of a discount and some other perks--but I also believe it has some extra problems too.

If you're a small time operation, don't have to worry about taxes, etc. you would choose personal. FWIW, I don't see too many business accounts. That may mean something, may mean nothing.

In the UK, I believe it's for tax reasons as well. You're exempt from Valued Added Tax here so long as you can provide a VAT number. Don't know about the US.

Also, for the prospective buyers to see.

yep I made a couple business buyer accts and so far so go. but well see what happends when i make them seller accts

Can you register a DBA as a personal account (possibly less hassle)?
Since it is not necessarily a corp there is no EIN.

i made up all the info so i dont think you have to go thru all that trouble. just like ⊗⊗⊗⊗ personal accts.

So you could do a business account with all bogus info.
The DBA would only come in useful for setting up a PP account and being able to verify it with a PO box (but one with a st address and po box)
Are these the kind you get at a Mail Boxes etc? How about a USPS sub-station...like the omes at the mall?
