Below standard, removing defects

Has anyone had any success calling in and asking eBay to remove a defect as a courtesy?

Also, what defect % will put you in the danger zone? Have an account which made a few mistakes over the holidays and they are just starting to be reflect in my Summary months later now, for whatever reason.

doesn't hurt to ask. If they refuse you're no worse off than you are now.

I've been able to have negative feedback and late shipment defects removed by calling in, but there were good reasons each time so I wouldn't call it a courtesy gesture.

I don't think there is an official "danger zone". They tend to look at your overall selling history when deciding whether or not to suspend you. One bad month isn't usually enough to kill an eBay account.

Re: Below standard, removing defects

It was 2 days till my account goes below standard, I tried to call a lot, sent a ton of e-mails and talked to more than 10 representatives. Finally my last call made all these attempts worth it and the rep told me this:

"I can't delete all of your defects, I will delete 2 or 3 and forward your inquiry again to the responsible department and they should take over the matter"

The same I got called by the same rep and was told that he deleted all of my defects! That was a very happy day for me indeed.

Give them a call and be VERY nice and hope for the best.

Good luck brother;

And a sad day indeed that was for people wanting to buy legitimate branded products.

Still, that shows EB CSR includes some honest incompetents. They're as likely to do the wrong thing that turns out to benefit you as they are to do the wrong thing that hurts you.

Of course, if they do the wrong thing it could also hurt you even worse than you're hurt now.

So I called. The rep told me they don't do courtesy removals, but I was able to devise some legitimate reasons for why they should be removed. 2/4 defects removed... yay :)

By danger zone, I don't really mean suspension. I just mean the point at which your listings get pushed so far down in the search results to the point where you see drastic decreases in sales. Etc

Congratulations! Good work.

I'm of the opinion that defects get mixed into the search algorithm in some fashion regardless of level.

But I think there must be dozens, maybe hundreds of data points that factor in and I'm not clear what level of defects will injure you or what weight they're given in the calculation.

The more time I spend on Ebay the more I am convinced that they deploy one of the most retarded search algorithm mankind has ever known!
