gmail and stealth ebay

Hello. I recently logged into my new gmail provided from my purchased Stealth account. I signed into my new gmail account with my old ip, and noticed an ebay email. I opened the email while on my old ip address. Images started loading and I then closed the email.
Am I linked now? Because from what Ive read gmail does not let this happen. Just want to make sure. Thanks for any help.

You could be...you need to disable images in gmail...
Senders like ebay usually place beacons in their emails so you should run ccleaner to get rid of said beacons...

I did deacvtivate external images in the gmail settings. images still started loading when I clocked on the email. I even double checked after to make sure the turn off external images was checked and it was.

From what I recall gmail doesnt allow your IP address to be leaked this way so you should be fine.
Are you certain it was actual images loading up? or the placeholders for images that are disabled?

From the other thread you asked about this in, OP:

No, you can't be linked that way. Like I said above, ALL images in Gmail messages are rehosted on Gmail servers. Regardless of what you do or click on, eBay will only see a Google IP because a Google proxy was the endpoint from eBay's point of view.

If Gmail (and other major email clients, I'm sure hotmail does it too) didn't do this, any random hacker could email you a message with an inline image which they've hosted themselves. As soon as you open the email and the image loads the hacker would have your IP address.

I'm not certain. I just freaked out. And just worried about linking. Even though supposedly gmail protects you from ip leakage from what I've read. Just was wondering if this was true, then why must the " ask me before loading external images" must be checked in settings according to the stealth guide. Just being extra paranoid now I giess. Thank you sir.

Ok yes from what read this is why gmail is the best email for stealth. Just scared because I also know in the stealth guide it was recommended to check " ask before didplaying external images" . Just trying to clarify because I'm a paranoid purpose. Thank you sir for the help.

You're welcome. Certain parts of the stealth guide are outdated and it's always good practice to take precautions like disabling images anyway.

Just so you know, I use only gmail, I also use thunderbird to load all my emails and have never had an issue. Gmail for sure is the best for stealth.

Pfft! You're outdated.

The stealth guide clearly outlines best practices when it comes to images in email. OP is fine.

Sorry aspkin. Just figured out what OP means lol. So just to clarify for the last time... images that are loaded on gmail, even without the ( ask before displaying external images checked) are safe from being linked with ip addresses? Thanks and sorry for being repetitive...
