Now 21 day hold

Bought an account on here 2 months ago, 500/25,000 because seller was out of 100/5000 and shipped better account. I thank him for that. Browsed for a week, post an item, next week 2 items, no 21 day hold. Next week posted 10 items sold all no hold. Then posted about 20 items, sold most.

THEN ebay said I was doing a fantastic job and increased me to 700/34,000 so I thought cool and posted 40-50 items. Sold a $199 item and hold was placed on, and 7 days later when customer received hold released (paypal hold).

Then sold great for 8-10 days no holds, then yesterday sold 5 items and all 5 have 21 day hold? Not high ticket items, ($29-50 items).

What up with that?

Holds just come and go sometimes for the first few months

Its pretty normal

most people have 100% holds the first 3-4 months and then sporadic holds for a month or two more. I wish all my new accounts were like yours.

Many factors involved - accept and provide good service. Best wishes

A sudden change in selling practices (e.g. going from cheap to expensive items overnight) will almost always trigger payment holds being reapplied. A sudden change in your selling velocity will do the same thing.

Is that what you did? If so, just be happy they didn't request invoices or something worse.

Nope $10-$70 items, but one guy bought 3 $50 items, I have invoices.

That's still a lot of money rolling into a fresh account. Perfectly normal for Paypal to reapply payment holds in your situation. They don't yet trust your account so they're protecting themselves from losses in the event you flake out and leave customers hanging.

Invoices aren't the problem. Invoices are always the easiest documents to procure when Paypal limits an account and asks for documentation. It's the proof of address, proof of SSN, picture ID, utility statement, and all that jazz which makes restoring stealth accounts nearly impossible for most.

yeah, they do that.

You should be familiar with this, though, given your volume.

That's really hard to imagine. New accounts always have holds for a while.

Re: Now 21 day hold

I've been experiencing that for the past year. I actually have 260+ dollars on hold in my account right now on around a dozen different orders. According to PayPal the if a buyer seems to get a lot of refunds they will hold the money just in case the buyer wants a refund later. My question is I that's happening why not just not let the user use paypal.

It's normal. I have a 10 year old account that sells 100/week and it still got holds from time to time...

So just keep the good performance consistency and it'll drop off soon

I thought you mentioned selling an item for $199?

Your account is active with money going in.

Paypal has a habit of doing holds.

They do this until they feel safe with you

Good work here.

But your initial post said you have holds now so could likely also be source of payment in play.
