I wanted to share because I was so nervous before making the phone call I thought it might help someone else too. I had to call eBay to get my limit increased. The automated system told me it hadn't been 30 days, but it had actually been nearly 60 days so I asked for an operator. I got a very nice English speaking man on the phone. he agreed with me that it had been longer than 30 days and said he would do a manual review which naturally made my face get all white and hot because it is a stealth account. So I waited while he said, "This looks good, this looks excellent, blah blah." He concluded there must be a glitch in the system somewhere because I should have had no problem getting a limit increase and he gave me one manually. he was such a pleasant friendly young man, I wish I could have filled out a survey on him after.

They probably monitored the call and when they found out he was nice to a customer his manager had him fired immediately and escorted out of the building by security.

One of my accounts recently got a listing pulled down and called eBay CS to find out why.
I told the rep that I've been selling the same item(s) for a good while without problems until that point. Why this one? The rep said there was ALWAYS a reason for what they do what they do, and they have a team of "experts" who regularly monitor all their listings. Experts? Huh?
I asked about these "experts", and the rep went on to explain they were "specially trained" to look for items that "just didn't look right" even tho they were allowed and no policy was violated. Seriously?
This call just got more strange as I asked more questions, trying to press for specifics. The rep then started to get condescending and said I was no longer allowed to challenge the reasons why they would take down a listing, and just continued to reiterate that their "team of experts" was the "authority" when it came to certain items.
The ironic thing is I am continuing to list this same item (the one they pulled) on two other accounts with no problem.
What is OK one day might not be good the next. There are no guarantees when it comes to eBay. Their rules are NOT applied uniformly.

nickopedia,
I like this post. I like it very much.
You have presented a well expressed view of what ebay is.
You have shown how ebay changes its rules to suit itself.
Anyone new to ebay should read this and become aware of how they change the game but only to suit themselves.
Thank you for this.
Ebay is not a given, laid out series of rules. Ebay plays a game none of us expect. This therefore makes learning your way around ebay/paypal difficult.

"Team of experts" = ****ty bots with ineffective algos that sporadically like to ramp up and shut down your listing one day while leaving it untouched the next.
Or maybe the bots are purposely ineffective, because eBay knows if they try too hard to be strict they will lose even more business to other online vendors. Quote:

I am dying over the expert's comment. I bet that guy lies to all his girlfriends too. You probably should have just hung up on him and called back to get a different operator.

I was simply asking questions about the listing they pulled down because it didn't make sense. The part that really got my attention was that I was told eBay has their own people who are trained to know what items "supposed to look like". WTF?
Maybe not, but I can see a case where maybe Trust & Safety suspects an item might be ⊗⊗⊗⊗, or VERO matter and ask for supplier docs/photos to give to the supplier or VERO participant for review. I don't believe that eBay employed their own inhouse people who are experts in items on their marketplace.

1) Given by an idiot who has no clue about what he's talking, yet wants to sound like he does both to you and/or whoever is next to him or listening on the line, or just likes to hear himself talk and enjoys feeling like he's in control of something.
2) Given by someone who knows exactly why what happened is what happened, but can't/doesn't want to tell you because they are suspicious of something they see.
I find it best never to take anything as a full and truthful answer, but to factor it all into the bigger picture.
