Item scanned accepted....still not delivered..
 

Hey guys, I shipped something out Monday from Florida going to LA. First class. The tracking has not updated since the 26th. This never happens. Anyways how should I handle this situation? Am I out the money if its not delivered?

If a buyer files a complaint, yes.

Sometimes it isn't scanned again until it reaches the destination - which has been an unwelcome and increasingly frequent occurrence lately with USPS - so it may still arrive.

In my case, usually shipping to LA from the east coast takes 5-6 days, so keep an eye on the number today and Monday. If it isn't there Monday I'd give USPS a ring or file a complaint at the post office for a lost parcel. If it's replaceable you may need to get another item out in the mail.

If contacted by the buyer, offer them the info I stated above and just keep them in the loop and hopefully nothing comes of it if you have to refund or replace.

Happens with USPS fairly frequently. Sucks, nothing you can do except refund. USPS won't do anything about it except send you template responses. "We greatly value your business and assure you we are doing everything in our power to locate the item..." etc

If it's insured (priority), you can get your money back. If it's first class, the most you'd be able to get back (if that) if the postage.

Agree with kirkland and gladiator, just part of the risk of doing business.

None of the other shippers are any better, though, it's the luck of the draw.

Yay! I'm glad to hear it's going to work out for you.

USPS is frustrating in their lazy scanning, which is kind of worse now given they do that "Informed Delivery" scanning where you can see your mail in the morning before it's arrived. I'd rather they focus on actually scanning and delivering parcels - I can wait a few more hours to see what's in my mailbox. (Junk & Bills...)

I now suddenly have buyers complaining that 'Informed Delivery says it won't come today so it's late or lost I want my money back'.

Thanks USPS. Perfect example of unintended consequences. Does anyone really need to know what will be in their mailbox on any given day? I think not.

Really? Damn. That’s pathetic. I’m not terribly surprised though, I’ve been blamed for delays due to hurricanes and snow storms...
