Item on its way as usps states and buyer opened ebay case

Hello guys again .
New issue with an other buyer but it seems strange to me.
Item shipped tracked as always by 6th of feb from Athens/Greece .
It processed normaly .
USPS track no RE726959329GR and parcel on its way to omaha , NE since 21th of Feb .
In domestic transit 2 weeks ago !!!!
So buyer opened before 2 days an ebay case :(
Without any message asking before.
Buyer is with 0 feedback and with an automated nick name - i guess- like "7lal6789-vuqzvaxxz" .

So i replied to his case asking him to contact usps turning a question whats happening and why is in transit to Omaha,NE 10-15 days now ?

So i got a case reply message that usps asked him for "mailer's adress"

It seems to me very strange that usps asked something like this.
So whats yours opinion ?

International shipments take a long time, and EB doesn't really take this into account when allowing a buyer to open a case.

If the buyer escalates the case before it arrives, he will win, and you will lose both your money and the item.

This is one of the inherent problems with international shipments, and there's very little you can do about it.

That said, if it shipped on the 6th of Feb from Greece and isn't there yet by today which is the 5th of March, that's 30 days, and that's way too long. My international shipments usually arrive within 10-15 working days.

If he wants your address give it to him if it'll make him happy. Maybe you'll get a bit more patience out of him. He'll get the address when the package arrives anyway.

i am worrying for scam as this is my real adress of mailing out.
Why usps (as his states) to ask about mailer`s adress ?
it seems strange to me .

Tracking infos by USPS are currectly :

February 27, 2018, 12:11 pm
In Transit to Next Facility
On its way to OMAHA, NE 681143651

The item is currently in transit to the next facility as of February 27, 2018.
February 26, 2018, 12:11 pm
In Transit to Next Facility
On its way to OMAHA, NE 681143651

February 25, 2018, 12:11 pm
In Transit to Next Facility
On its way to OMAHA, NE 681143651
February 24, 2018, 10:11 pm

Departed USPS Regional Facility
OMAHA NE DISTRIBUTION CENTER
February 24, 2018, 8:37 pm
Arrived at USPS Regional Facility

OMAHA NE DISTRIBUTION CENTER
February 24, 2018, 4:45 am
Arrived at Unit
OMAHA, NE 68154

so its from 24th of Feb on OMAHA NE , and usually under my experience when usps states : " arrived at unit " means that buyer picked up or next day will pick up .
and since 27th no any update on tracking process !

Re: Item on its way as usps states and buyer opened ebay case

It looks like the shipment stalled at the Omaha distribution center. Shipments aren't delivered from regional sorting facilities, so there should be at least another 2 or 3 (real) scans before delivery (such as when the shipment reaches the destination post office and when it goes out for delivery). The scans on 25/26/27th were automated and weren't real scans. (notice how all 3 were at exactly the same time each day?)

I recommend that you as the seller go to USPS.com and start a missing mail search. A lot of the time that will get the shipment moving again. It probably fell off of a conveyor belt or something at a sorting facility, and it hasn't been noticed and put back into the mail stream yet. Keep the buyer updated by letting them know you're making an effort to locate the missing shipment, and they may be patient with you and give you another day or two to work things out.

I guess its not easy as an international seller to file a claim on usps about a missing mail/paecel.
I can do it only via my domestic greek carrier but this needs ususally a lot of time that is practically means ebay case will be losted ...

Ah, I didn't think about that. You would need to setup a USPS account and I'm not sure if that's possible without a USA address. Did you try?

https://missingmail.usps.com/

I see the "in transit to destination" thing where a shipment stalls and get that scan every day at the same time at least once or twice per week. It's very common with USPS. If a shipment stops moving for any reason it will get that scan every day at the time time, presumably to make the customer think the parcel is still moving.

Most of the time the shipment will start moving and showing actual tracking scans again after 5-10 days. Customers hate it and we end up sending a ton of refunds for shipments which arrive a day or two later.

Guys thanks for your replies.
I guess i have to deal with a refund on that ..
Luckily is just a 35$ parcel ...

However is it possible usps to ask receiver about mailer's adress ?
It sounds suspicious that to me ...

Re: Item on its way as usps states and buyer opened ebay case

It's common for them to ask about shipper information when customers call USPS looking for mail. USPS uses that information to help look for the shipment. I don't think there's anything suspicious unless you sold something shady.

Re: Item on its way as usps states and buyer opened ebay case

Nothing shady .

But tracking number is not enough for them ?
It includes everything they need to find a parcel's way -origin/destination- !

Re: Item on its way as usps states and buyer opened ebay case

I don't know why they do it, but they do. Maybe in case the tracking barcode/number has been damaged.

When you file a missing mail search online they do the same thing. You have to provide shipper and receiver address, package contents and value, package description, tracking number, mailing date, service used. They ask for a ton of information they already have access to.
