Returning to eBay/Amazon

I'll be coming back to eBay/Amazon after a couple years away. I've ran a successful food business for the past 18 months but am 2 weeks away from exchanging contracts on the sale.

Going to have an awful lot of money burning a hole in my pocket, aside from 6 weeks in Florida, California & Hawaii, I need to put it to some good use.

eBay & amazon has had so many changes since i've been gone. Anyone got any tips for me to be successful again on eBay.

One thing I have noticed on eBay is the amount of sellers using proper listing templates rather than a regular text description. Would you say thats vital to ensure good sales?

The best way to succeed on EB is: Sell at a loss and if anybody complains throw money at them until they can't carry any more cash.

I don't think the templates have much to do with selling success. In the restaurant business the old saw is location, location, location.

EB and AZ are always forcing you into a race to the bottom. Their three most important factors are price, price and price.

There's little else they care about.

agreed but money to be made, just hard work and alot of bending over..

OP this money you have, you could invest it and get an income if it is enough? or are you looking for something to do with your time - or both?

Diversify OP - invest, biz, stocks, real estate, etc

Dont sell in the flooded markets and you can still do really well on ROI on ebay and amazon. Amazon is pretty much a commodity on all items most people buy and sell. Lowest price wins.

As for those massive distributors using those templates, I believe it is a turnoff. Many are extremely hard to see on a mobile devise and the descriptions usually are horrid and sometimes non existent. The biggest reason they use them is the use of a VA across boarders loading to some other site.

Honestly it almost doesn't matter if the product is hot and your prices are good.

But professional and beautiful looking templates will set you apart from other sellers you'll be competing with.

Simple sells. Dazzle and complicated imagines, borders, and gimmicks frustrate buyers who click the back button in a heartbeat.

Keep in mind that different size devices may render only a portion of the image.

AZ has the buy box, if you don't get it you're going to have problems competing, they hide most of the listings on the site.

EB is going to an AZ style, where they only show a few listings they like.

Also, EB's going to start having people pay EB directly instead of you, and they'll give you your money when they're d**m good and ready, and not a moment before ( based on their past behavior ), and in spite of the fact they're going to start doing this in a few months, they still won't give anyone any substantial details about it.

Welcome home!
