Good till cancel listing, if you run out and then put back quantity more than 0, say 20, will your listing be the same exact thing with ranking around where you originally were?
Saw a competitor sell 400 items on his/her good till cancel listing, then I guess he ran out. Couple of weeks later, saw it up again, saw the numbers sold right where he left off and the search ranking was similar. Is that how it works? Just let it run to 0, and the listing is still live until you reset it back?

Since you will get no sale this will drop the rank

Related to OP's issue; how to make listings not disappear with all its selling history after you're out of stock?

@OP - In my experience when a listing sells out and is restocked a few days later, it usually takes a few days for that listing's sales to get back to where they were before the sell out.

Did eBay ever enforce the "price raise" rule they come out with a while back? Where buyers would jack up the price so the last one wouldn't sell...

A guy who dropships with me did it recently. He killed his sales but never got into trouble by eBay.
I don't think they're enforcing it very tightly if that is a new rule they introduced.

Back in the day, I used to do it when I couldn't keep stock coming in fast enough.
Several years ago, I ranked first for a very hot seller(you know what it is) and would do a couple hundred transactions per day on it. The price was 6.99, but I would add another 9 and change it to 69.99 to keep from selling out... AND PEOPLE WOULD STILL BUY IT! hahaha
Idiots... people don't read sh*t nowadays. Maybe it looked like 6.99 to them, no clue. But I'm an honest person, so I would contact them, tell them about it and refund the difference.

Here's an excerpt from: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Announ.../ba-p/26163355
"eBay has introduced a new out-of-stock option for sellers to use on their multi-quantity Good ‘Til Cancelled listings. Free to use for all sellers, this new option helps safeguard your hard-earned reputation—and helps protect you from associated defects—when your qualifying listings reach a quantity of zero."
Now that I have changed it, would my current listings be applied with this out of stock option? Or does it apply to new listings? thx.

Will you get suspended if a friend buys lets say 50 items from your listing and then cancels the order?

@glacier (quote isn't working for some reason) - it takes effect immediately. You could zero out one of your current listings to test it out.

SOmething to remember is if you jack up your price so no one buys your last item .. you will fall in ranking ... the less ppl looking at your listing the further it will fall. best way to go to 0 then when restocked jump quantity back up and you will for the most part keep your ranking .. i have went to 0 waited 3 weeks before i was able to restock then i was right back up in the first 3 listings when searching ..
on another note if you have several listings that is at 0 that you "may" restock someday ebay will charge relisting fees ea month for these "limbo" items .. so its best to just cancel these if your unsure about restocking anytime soon

Usually I just increase the price above the competition to reduce the sales while waiting to get my stuff back.
