Default Price is NOT as important as we think

I have a niche on Ebay whereas although I don't control all of the market, I have probably 80% of it. There are two or three other sellers selling a few of the same items I am selling ( We probably get from same place) but my items are priced $20-30 more than theirs and I currently outsell them 2 or 3 to 1. I do have some items custom made for me that they do not have access to but it looks like customer service is more important than price. When I first saw their ads I thought "MFs are undercutting me" so I put them on watch list and have followed their sales which are about 33% of mine for same items.

My mark ups are pretty good (500%) whereas theirs are 100% , I buy cheaper than them because I buy in quantity and evidently they don't.

Just thought that was an interesting observation for all of us that "Jones" on price alone.

From my experience, Ebay buyers are always on the look for the best bargain.

If you can outperform them in terms of metrics, faster shipping, higher search rankings etc. then you can get away with a higher price point.

If you can see you're getting the sales, and it works out better for you, then stick to it. Else you'll be shipping out a lot more product, lower margins, and just adding to your workload without any extra benefit.

That's because you were selling cheap consumables in an over-saturated market, where the pricing was a race to the bottom. No one is going to pay $15 for a phake phone cable, no matter HOW good your customer service is.

Price is just one of many factors which determine where you end up on the search page.

One can presume it is a large factor, but one can also presume EB prefers to sell a higher priced item so it's cut will be larger than a lower priced one.

Who can say for sure... but price definitely isn't the only, or even the biggest variable involved.

The category of electronics as a whole usually prefers sellers with low prices. If you have the highest price in that department, good luck competing!

Sometimes customers like to pay for best quality, and when the price reflects that, it guarantees its quality.
Also a professional company look and fast shipping promises drives sales.

The items I sell are super high quality, but competitors are buying from same place as me

If you buy terapeak, you most likely will be surprised at how small of the market you actually have. It is worth the investment to find out.

I used to think years back I was saturating a nitch market with auctions and had 80-90% of the sales. I was amazed that more items in that one brand were sold on ebay a day that I sold in my entire life. I started running hundreds of auctions a day with the same success as I was before. Months later I sold more in one month than I have in my entire selling career. A month later most all my competitors were gone. I was well hated and my account was closed by ebay for being a bully

Just a story for ya LOL

What was the justification of Ebay banning you? Did they say anything about you taking over the market? Was it copyright infringements?

I would really like to hear the exact reason so that I myself could avoid the horror you had to go through.

I have told you in the past the exact process. I am not going to go over it again.

price is always important. Customers will pay $3 for ⊗⊗⊗⊗ phone cables rather than $50

True. I've sold almost as many cables as Apple has, though... I'm done with those things lol

Nah... never had any take downs. That was back when I was doing high volume/low margin type stuff. I've since moved away from that model.
