Not all messages come through to Gmail

I've seen many posts suggesting you should just reply to emails through email.

This is great. Except I find a LARGE number of emails DON'T come throughto my gmail. MANY just don't appear. MANY will be in ebay inbox.

Anyone else have the same problem?
