Selling on Ebay without paypal?
 

can anyone from experience tell me if there is a noticeable difference in the number of sales you get without accepting paypal on ebay? Trying to figure out if its not worth getting a merchant account. I'm permanently limited on paypal if you're wondering.

People have been brainwashed that using PayPal is the way to go....you may not get many sales without PayPal.

PayPal goes with eBay, period, at least be until Adyen payments are fully implemented, but that could be years.

Sure, you can get a so-called "merchant account" but expect your sales to drop *dramatically*

Just speaking for myself, if I come across an eBay seller that doesn't take PP, I move on to someone who does EVEN if I have to pay more for the item.

It comes down to what is most convenient and makes sense for the buyer.

I use a merchant account on an eBay account.

Sales will drop by 90%. Most retail buyers will flee.

Still though, it's really nice to have an alternative way of processing payments that doesn't involve Paypal. It's worth the hassle for what I can do outside of eBay.

MM is correct. Buyers are perfectly comfortable paying through Amazon's merchant account, but, as reflected in nick's comments, it's like buyers see the Scarlett Letter or something if an eBay seller is using a merchant account.

I remember back when only accepting Paypal on a website was looked upon as being cheap and untrusted. My, how times have changed!

As I keep saying, most people will go with whatever they are most familiar and comfortable with. part of it is brand recognition, but mostly due to the fact EB & PP have been joined at the hip since pretty much the beginning of it all.

Yeah, now PP seems like a dear old friend compared to the unknown quantity of Adyen. How things have changed! :(
