eBay SEO: Proven Tactics For Ranking eBay Listings

I'm new to EBay and was listening to a few sellers who have experience. Most of them feel that "SEO" is very important in order to get traffic to their EBay listings. So I've decided that I'm looking for a great starting point with learning keyword research, competition, how to find hot items, etc., just like any other niche research.

I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction for 2018 (up-to-date training).

I heard that "Ebay Cassini" can be a real monster.

Cassini and SEO are apples and oranges.

Cassini decides what listing to rank in search. It uses criteria both from your listing and title, and multiple data points from your account profile, including price point, complaints and cases, payment history, 'best practices' and other behavior to decide where you rank in internal EB searches.

In that sense SEO is marginally applicable in EB terms, because while you can pick 'Pink' as a title descriptor and a category, you cannot change how many people complain about something you did, which is also one of the data points Cassini uses.

SEO is usually used to refer to how outside search engines such as Google, Bing, etc, rank various results based on criteria they apply.

Ranking within EB via Cassini and SEO for outside EB are entirely different.

Outside search engines 'organic' results are mostly overwhelmed by paid search these days, and while SEO is a factor, the wallet wins over SEO every single time without fail.

may be wrong but:

I always try to fill the title space and put the whole title in captial letters (uppercase) sometimes surrounded by some ascii art or emojis "•-• like this •-•" to get views of the listing

try and pad out your title with decriptive words also to broaden search visibility. i.e if you selling a lawnmower dont just put used lawmower as the title. Pad it out to be "Orange Flymo Xcompact Professional Lawnmower - 30m cord - original box and instructions" etc etc

also put your ad in 2 categories if you can. for the example above gardening tools category and lawmowers category

for the description dont overload with html. keep it simple and introduce your store on the first line. make people want to buy from YOU!

YOU NEED TO STAND OUT.

If you want your listing to show up first on the list, you need to make lots of sales. This is the best way for eBay to move you up the ladder?

Pretty much the kind of thing I was saying. Of course the title has to describe the product with the most common search terms, but what EB loves most is sales. The more sales you make the more it'll show your item.

Strictly speaking, however, that isn't SEO, that's Cassini, which weighs things other than search terms and metatags.

The eBay formula is very simple: Make more sales --> You rank higher.

How to make more sales? Study your market, create listings with added value and sales will begin to come in.
