They don't unless you add your state tax to your listings. Otherwise you'll end up fronting it instead of them.

ok at the end we pay right. What if we dropship and already pay taxes on the items we buy?

I wanted to but the price would make it too high. Also I noticed a lot of sellers don't charge tax. How do they handle taxes come tax season? do they just pay the state as a whole or have to look back and see which sale came from what state?

In your case I personally would not bother with charging sales tax outside of the state you are conducting business in. Like you said, you would have to sift through your records and see which sale went to which state. It would be a nightmare.

You shouldn't be paying sales tax on your purchases if they are being shipped outside of your state. Easiest to add sales tax to your listings for sales in-state and report them come tax season. Legally you need to do this.

Legitimate businesses have financial professionals or some person handling tax for them at tax time - prob best that you seek one out for advice
