I have a theory that in the future (10-15 years), Amazon would have kicked out the majority of sellers because they'll be selling all that stuff themselves.
I see eBay and similar marketplaces as a fallback plan in case Amazon turns into the monster I am afraid of. | Too many markets to blanket them all profitably let alone the amount of unnecessary work required in finding the best sellers when we could do it for them. Takes the term 'clearance' out of the picture entirely. Something more appealing about skimming through pages with variety rather than forced into buying one product from one manufacturer. Would you only buy Heinz knowing there are 8 other brands out there?
Those FBA warehouses pay for themselves. They'll leave it up to the masses and skim off the top with fees and selling their own versions of high volume products.
