Wal-mart prepaid visas are worthless pieces of ****

They demand enough info to steal your identity to activate the card and they refuse to activate you without a social security card even if you claim not to be a US citizen they won't activate it.

They also have a $5 monthly fee first charged 10 days after purchase and $2 charge to talk to a real person.

lol thanks for the headsup buddy. try that site that Aspkin recommended.
Simon Malls | More Choices - The Prepaid Visa debit Gift Card and Visa Gift Account from Simon.com

DogFacedBoy 09-05-2007 07:17 PM

Simon worked great for me. I'm going to lay in a supply of them next pay period get a bunch of accounts up and running an then use them to pay all of my bills :)

Jonas 09-05-2007 07:19 PM

Simon.com wouldn't activate my cards and then kept my money. I had to call many times after a month and threaten them with a chargeback to get them to refund me. I heard simon.com is down now like giftcards.com

Are you talking about the VCC or the actual GC?
The actual GC's even if they can't activate for online use (necessary to use them to register at EB and PP) should be able to allow you to make local purchases with them...after all they are a giftcard.

aspkin 09-05-2007 08:02 PM

If you go to some of these check chasing places, they have prepaid mc that work great. That's what I used before I found Simon.

egyptman90 09-05-2007 08:26 PM

dont even go throught the headache of that go to your local gas station or cvs, rite aid pharmacy and get your yelf a $25 vanilla visa card...once you pay for it, its ready to be used...no personal info required...has anyone used this cause i experience nothing but good on ebay with theese;)

JackNoMore 09-05-2007 08:55 PM

True but then you pay 5-10 just for activation.

Aren't there quite a few more fees involved other than the $2 Simon?

These can be recharged though can't they(for a price)?

ebay-sucks 09-05-2007 10:53 PM

All I did to get started was to buy a 25.00 GC at a gas station. Listed or sold until it hit the 23.00 range. Stopped until invoice was paid and now set up to pay sellers fees via paypal.
Don't need another GC to pay the bill.

JackNoMore 09-06-2007 12:40 AM

What was the activation fee?

anotherebayhater 09-06-2007 07:38 AM

net spend cards are good to

That's what I did too. Mine had no activation fee, just an extra $2 up front on top of what was put on the card. Who was the issuer?

egyptman90 09-06-2007 11:52 AM

the vanilla visa card has a $3.95 fee which isnt bad, think about it they dont even need an address to confirm...i seen a 10 year old kid walk in a buy one...its safe and easy... use it on paypal as well as ebay

Rechargeable?
If so what is the "load" fee?
Would be nice...get one of these "vanilla" cards. setup PP and EB accounts, send money from PP to the "vanilla" card, withdraw at ATM.

Anybody been able to set something like this up?

egyptman90 09-07-2007 11:26 AM

idk know about that... i just use it to set up the accounts then discard it after filling my car with gas:D but its a great card they sell them in $50 as well as $100 but $25 is what usually does it for the most part

Where exactly did you get these? What stores specifically sell this vague "vanilla" things? Do they let you do anything online like enter a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address and change it whenever you want? Do they have monthly fees or transaction fees?

anotherebayhater 09-09-2007 10:42 AM

u can get them on line at vanillacard.com or i think walgreens has them not sure what area stores have them. im sure on the website you can find out where stores are in your area. :)

Jonas 09-09-2007 05:23 PM
