New fees for returned item ration coming.
 

Ebay never ceases to amaze me at how much they will beat up sellers. The new increase of 4 percent is going to affect a lot of sellers over a return ratio. Some of those returns are completely out of our hands, as some buyers are not even reasonable and use it at their disposal. I can see having defects as a penalty, but increasing fees over returns that were satisfied in the customer service aspect is sheer robbery.

Good news is very rare from eBay these days

This is yet more eBay trying to increase profits short term and shooting themselves in the foot long term

I would assume they'll get a lot of aggro and refine it. Those who sell items such as clothing will be most affected as return rates are extremely high in that niche.

It all depends on how the grouping works out. Supposedly you'll be pooled with like sellers and if everyone in your group runs 2% returns then you can, but if they run 2% and you run 5% then you're doing something wrong, or had a bad string - Thats where its going to hurt.

oh trust me, all platforms have their quirks and they care more about their bottom line, not ours.

But unfortunately also, some bad apples will make it tougher for us who are trying hard.

I can easily absorb the damages of the new policy, but really think about it. From a small business standpoint that is even well diversified, you can easily have "those buyers" that simply dont care about others and will abuse policy for the sake of getting their way. I tend to give my customers the benefit of doubt on a problem. If I screwed up, or even the Postal Service creates an error, I will eat it. But some people are simply impatient. Messaging in the middle of the night and demanding a response in a few hours the filing cases will hammer metrics for that mere 2 percent of overall sales. Not to mention, the buyers that are simply stealing and know exactly what to do to get a free item. (ex. clearly showing delivered and filing unauthorized returns with paypal days and day out). I get that eBay is trying to hedge their model with punishing poor sellers, but a mere 1-2 percent deviation on an already 2 percent metric is just asinine. It is really like half of these developmental executives cheated or ignored their stats class in business school.
