Change to Email advice?

I've read many times over about blocking images and beacons over email. But recently I've read that images are fine after all since they're rehosted via Gmail servers.

Does this mean we no longer have to block images in Thunderbird/Gmail at all, only beacons/html?

Also does it matter that Thunderbird leaks my old IP for replying to buyers, since it's through IMAP and no longer masked within Gmail web interface?

Thanks

On Gmail its fine these days, just dont click any of the images if your not on your correct device or IP

For Thunderbird I cannot say

I dont know exactly, but rules can vary when an email client is involved.

Example, replying to emails/ebay messages via email wont route the email through Google's proxy servers, so your IP will become exposed.

Sam, would you be ok putting your business at risk for something that's ever changing in return for short term convenience?

This is the question I always ask myself when I'm dealing with eBay or Amazon.
The stealth guide still says it's not ok and even IF nowadays some people are reporting that it's ok, I'd err on the worst side and be careful.

Besides blocking those images doesn't make anything harder when checking email, so for me, there's no point to change something that's been working for a decade.

Okay, I wasn't sure with the mixed messages but I'd agree with the above.
Presumably leaking my old IP for convenience in buyer replies is also a no?

While it wont limit your account its still best to avoid

I'm just trying to make you think and decide for yourself.

And share with you my personal experience and thought process.

Some people here do not run a tight ship with IP leaks and all that, but if one account goes down and it's a big enough issue, the IP can be used to link the rest of the accounts.

There was a thread somewhere here about how it happened to a member recently.
