There you have it folks, policy pages are brief descriptions and we don't tell you the rest. We can trump up charges for you and you wouldn't know any different because only we know. Good luck out there! :thumb:

Was this about the "we don't want you putting (S, M, L, XL) sizes" in titles in multi-variation listings because if one size sells out then it's basically false advertising?

The policy contradicts itself. On one hand it tells you it's okay to describe your item using related keywords in the title. On the other it says anything that "manipulates" search is against policy. I wouldn't call including related keywords in the title to describe your item as "manipulative." The way they've set up their variation listings and search algorithms makes it "manipulative."

They need to start using the variation drop down menus as negative keywords and compare those to the titles so those words don't show in search... and you still get to have the keywords in the title so people know WTF they are clicking on.

Once the monkeys are done screwing with my account I'm going to put them back on a few listings I don't care about and see what happens. I've gone a year with no problems so I think most reps either don't know or don't care.

You can't really rely on their policies or guidelines completely.

They mainly have them to cover themselves. So the best thing to do would be to stay updated in this forum

SaiJin has it correct, you CANNOT rely on what eBay says. In fact, it's pretty common to get different answers to your question depending on the rep(s) you talk to or interact with. EB does outsource some of their support as well, and the right hand doesn't always know what the left hand is doing in that company.

Preaching to the choir, fellas. I wouldn't take a reps word if my life counted on it; look what they do for a living. If they had any incentive they wouldn't be talking to you. Sure, maybe they like their job, but for me after talking to about 3 people with problems with orders my head starts to ache.

Point being, the policy pages that should be concrete are leaning more towards up for interpretation - at ebay's discretion. And they have every right! I suppose. But this certainly rocked my foundation last week thinking I could lose all my listings with just now over a year's worth of sales history. Ground zero with life's expenses would not have been fun.

Sales fell 50% for 4 days after ebays little charade... they also "advised" the 0.99 cent items should be removed as a variation option since they were "unrelated"...

Irregardless, after brainstorming and implementing new methods sales are back up 50%.... takeaway is 0.99 cent items on variation listings help immensely and people are smart enough to sort by lowest price....
