eBay request to verify accounts by calling in on first list item
 

eBay starts to ask me to call in to verify account after listing my first item for sale. It was taken off and put in the unsold folder and ask me to call in to verify. I just happen this week and I have been on hold for 45min with no agent to ask the call. Are they flooded with call if they are starting doing this again. It already happened in the past. Any new eBayer ran into the same problem.

Several other forum members have reported lengthy wait times when calling in. Someone mentioned that ebay has laid off a whole bunch of costumer service reps which could account for this situation. Whether or not this is the truth behind this situation is anybody's guess.

Made some accounts, and put up listings this morning. Had to call in. Took 10 minutes

Yep, almost all of my accounts are getting the same, suspension after first real item listed, and need to call. So weird that the item is the same, but outcome is always random.

Standard procedure for some new accounts and due to layoffs at Ebay their are lenghy waits on the phone lines I suggest opening a chat as I’ve heard this is quicker.

Уou start accounts with used or new items ? Do they have browsing history ?

It happens all the time, usually when cookies are not in place.

Its pretty standard these days. In the UK at least it is pretty much a way of welcoming you to ebay and to see what your planning goals are.

I got the same issue as OP; called in, had my listing restored. Then checked in a few hours and found my account to be completely suspended. Any ideas why?

Would like be two different reasons.

The initial request to call in is customary.

The suspension later may have been down to the item(s) you listed etc.

Is this only happened in the last few day? I have set up 2 news accounts. Made to small purchases on each account and lost both accounts?

Recently eBay started removing ALL risky listings from fresh accounts, and then ask to call them to verify your identity by talking to their representatives

Not identity. Just general business questions; where you got the items, what are your goals, etc.

There are 3 types of outcome after this interview:

1) they ask general questions, then reinstate the account
2) they ask general questions and "due security concerns, we request you to provide your ID and Invoice for the item", and then reinstate it, if they are ok with the docs
3) they ask the same questions, then check something for several minutes, and then say "we have security concerns, and we will not reinstate your account"

Noticed the longer wait times as well, better to be extra safe with the 1st item being listed lately

I purchased a bunch of accounts in the marketplace and have had to call in on all of them. I posted very low risk items with my own pictures.

Most accounts were restored right away. The agent stated they just needed to verify that I was a real person and that I had the item in my possession.

One account went up and then went right back down after I relisted the items. I had to call back in again and the rep stated it was just more security. eBay called me two days later to check in and make sure all was well. Thank goodness the stealth phone was literally right beside me when they called!!
